This song hits really hard. I saved my best friend's life in 2016, after he swallowed pills. I was on the phone with him for 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived. He asked me what gives me hope, and I told him not seeing him if he died today would break my heart, and that God and I loved him. His girlfriend was pregnant too and he got to see his kid born that next April. His son has a father in his life today because of me, and I am so grateful.

I have commented on this song before. I used to think this was a cry out to God from a broken and desperate soul. However, since my wife of 31 years (Mary) passed away on 9/11/22, with me sitting by her ICU bed as I very helplessly watched her "life clock" countdown to 0:00, this song has taken on an additional meaning. Well, if you actually try to read the message behind the video it's about paying it forward. It's the ultimate message. He was saved by someone so now he has to pay it forward by saving someone else. They're not the greatest band in the world, and they pull a lot of electric distortion tricks - just like Coldplay and U2, mind - but their lyrical content and overall vibe is to be applauded. Half their songs are relatable - anyone with an absentee father should watch the video for Too Bad - and the other half are aspirational as fuck. Savin' Me puts you in the shoes of a hero who didn't expect to be one. Especially when you consider this video. If Everyone Cared is a bible to how we should all live life, and its video is a fantastic, life-affirming history lesson. Lullaby describes the way we all experience love, filtered through this band's worldview. There is nothing wrong with any of this. There is a reason this band is so successful, but I fail to see why they are so maligned.

I don't know why Nickelback gets so much hate. I love Nickelback so much and they have been my favorite band for four years now and I know I will love them for the rest of my life. This song is my favorite song and it has been since I first started listening to them and I have always wanted to meet Chad Kroeger because he is the one who writes the lyrics to all these amazing songs. I never have come across a band or another songwriter that has had near as much of an effect on my life as Nickelback has and I hope that they get to read this so they know just how fucking amazing their music is and how special it is to me. Thank you so much for creating such awesome and meaningful songs.

It's my new life mission to make sure NICKLEBACK gets the respect they deserve. They are a truly incredible band. After watching there videos this morning after years of hearing NICKLEBACK jokes, I realized they don't deserve, they're far too talented. I'm not even sure anyone will actually read this, but if you do read this, stand up for NICKLEBACK next time you hear someone bad mouthing them. Even as a big nickelback fan, I have to admit alot of his songs are juvenile at best and creepy at worst. Songs like follow you home, SEX, and all the wrong reasons sounds like they were written by a 13 year old. But then you have songs like savin me and just to get high which seem like they're written by an entirely different person. Thankfully the new album seems to be a bit more mature in terms of the song writing.
