I used to listen to this and a lot more of your songs in my teens. You got me through getting out of a bad home situation with my parents, and kept hanging on to my current husband. We have our 20yrs anniversary this year. 2 kids, our own home. I heard this song again at a recent Nickelback concert. It was the first time I’d heard it in over a decade. The song definitely hits different now. I’m older, not just a kid. I’m a married man now. Our marriage isn’t perfect. It’s still relatively new and we don’t agree about everything. We probably fight more than average. I want nothing more than to reassure my wife that I will always provide for her and protect her to the best of my ability, no matter what. I know that sometimes I’m struggling to make ends meet and sometimes we fight about money. I know I’ve made mistakes. But at the end of the day, I also know that I love her and I’m always going to do whatever it takes to keep her. We will make it through this. Someday, somehow, I’m gonna make it alright. I hope she knows that.
