I used to listen to this and a lot more of your songs in my teens. You got me through getting out of a bad home situation with my parents, and kept hanging on to my current husband. We have our 20yrs anniversary this year. 2 kids, our own home. It was my own resolution to hold on, but Nickelback really really helped when I was crying in my room every day when mine or his parents would give us hell. His to break us up, mine for the fun of it. Things do change and I'm happy someone said it to me in a song when I was desperate and broken.

I've been going through a pretty bad time for what feels like forever. Today I woke up and thought of this song, thought it might help. The ending of this video caught me so off guard. It made me realize I really need to go to therapy for my Dad's extremely sudden death when I was young teen and how I almost lost my Mom in her grief for him. I heard this song again at a recent Nickelback concert. It was the first time I’d heard it in over a decade. The song definitely hits different now. I’m older, not just a kid. I’m a married man now. Our marriage isn’t perfect. It’s still relatively new and we don’t agree about everything. We probably fight more than average. I want nothing more than to reassure my wife that I will always provide for her and protect her to the best of my ability, no matter what. I know that sometimes I’m struggling to make ends meet and sometimes we fight about money. I know I’ve made mistakes. Not epilepsy, not brain surgery, not being homeless 3 times, not financial, domestic, sexual, alcohol abuse from others, and not an abortion, not break ups, not debt, Not a cheating father of my child that went off with my best friend, not undependable untrustworthy best mates that sleep with your guy, not the hell i have been to, to become the resilient successful single, very independent mum i am now living in a £300,000 brand new house.
