I still prefer wave 1 cause of the detailing but this new concept of storage shells is a great innovation. I'll definitely be buying this set!

The storage shell turtles in the vintage line are some of my favorites too. I loved all of the different weapons and tools each turtle got and unlike my other toys that I owned the opening shell helped me to keep better track of the accessories.

That is true. The 2012 Turtles didn't have the wacky weapons like armadillo clubs or blowfish maces, but TBH, unlike the original series, TMNT 2012 was one that was more serious while having some moments of comedy.

These are pretty great! My only minor gripe with these is that I wish the inside of the open mouthed turtles was painted, but other than that, I love the cartoon accuracy. Anyway, great review as always, Dan! :D

The vintage Storage Shell Turtles became my default back in the day. IDK if these will replace the new NICK Turtles, but are definitely cool.

These are actually impossible to find these days and worth money if they're sealed in package, there is only one Raphael on eBay still sealed with damaged packaging and the seller is asking over 50 us dollars before shipping

I Remember when they were still making TMNT 2012 toys turned 7 when I got my first ninja turtle toy for my birthday it was Michelangelo there were so many figures left to make and now I just miss this so much this is my childhood

You can find them at TRU now, I found them last week there. Look carefully when searching because it's not hard to confuse them for the first wave figures (shown in the video here), at a glance. Should be easy to find at Wal-Mart and Target as well very soon if not already.

Well, I'm glad I watched this review. I think I might take all my turtles back & exchange them for their battle shell versions. I've always wanted a vintage battle shell tmnt as a kid, but was too poor. And I like the fact that I can store the extra weapons within them. I'm just kind of pissed that battle shell Leo doesn't come with an extra katana, so I can't give it to my wave 2 Shredder (who didn't come with any additional weapons). I'm so glad I didn't open any of my figures I just brought. LoL.

dammit these are exactly what i wanted when i bought the first wave turtles. these guys are perfect. the only thing i don't like is that raphael still has a darker skin tone than the rest even though it's way lighter in the show

I really like the first wave more still. They just seem to appeal more to me being a collector in his 20s and not a kid wanting the more cartoon realistic version, although i know others my age will still want these figures too. I do like the new cartoon but got the first wave when they came out just because... they were really good looking turtles. Kind of makes me wonder why they even made the first wave as they did anyways...

I'll buy them, but i prefer the first wave relased, 'cause they remember me the turtlles from the movies, somehow: (leo-m2, Mike-m1, Don-M3,Raph-m1) maybe for the scratches and the wrinkles they own. Nice review Dan!

When looking through shelves of figures, look for the "battle shell" wording on the side of the figure card (you can clearly see it in the video when he shows the packaging), you shouldn't have any trouble that way!

Did you know they made 11 inch versions of the battleshell figures but the the same feet. But everything is the same on the 1st releases of the figures, execpt they have pupils.

I still prefer the first versions, a clear homage to the original figure series. The new look works for the cartoon, but not for the solid figures.

Michelangelo still has a few flaws. First, he doesn't have his freckles. Second, the nunchuck holders are wrong. In the show, they are on the sides of his shell.

I have the original 4+ Shredder; I will probably be picking up these variants just because they are more cartoon accurate. And the Shredder v2 because it is a far better figure.
