My local Walmart had them on a big display in the aisle with the new Mutant Mayhem stuff. As soon as the display came down these went straight to clearance. I was able to grab Mike and Raph for $6 each. I really don't like the textured skin so I don't think I'll be opening them.

The texture on the skin, Donny and Leo having their heads swapped and, the swivel at the ankles are my only issues. I really wish playmates would give these figures the ankle pivot and hinge instead of just a cut.

Definitely have to wait for a V2 release of these figures. The skin texture is nonsensical and Donny/Leo head swaps are a massive no-no. Foot/ankle articulation would be nice too!

For 12.99 each I think they are as close to perfect as possible. Far to much hate on these! If these figures were "perfect" the price would be much higher. These might be the most bang for your buck in recent memory.

I’m actually really happy with this purchase. My only complaint is the new, over the top weapons. I’d rather those been replaced with an alt head or set of hands than a silly weapon I’ll never display.

It's wild as an adult collector, how we critique toys. As a kid we just dealt with what we were given. We took the good with the bad. Adults try to change reality, children adjust to it. Anyone try to improve the design of their toys as a kid? I completely missed/ignored so many design flaws as a child, and there were many. 😂

Makes sense though. As a kid you usually got your toys from your parents. What are you gonna do, critique every little flaw on the toy your parents just bought you? Good luck ever getting another toy then. As adult collectors you pay for them yourself and it’s only normal that you want the best bang for your buck. It’s not about changing reality, it’s about getting something that’s worth your money. And kids certainly try to improve flaws in their toys, I know I did (within my own limits of course), like painting the weapons or cutting off the straps on Leo and Donnie’s belts because they didn’t have them in the cartoon.

Well it's the same problem with sequels to popular movies. The original has no predecessor, so it is it's own thing, but everything that follows will forever be compared to the one that set the standard.

-Smooth the skin -Double jointed articulation -Wrist hinges -Diaphragm joint (hides under the belts) -Ankle rocker just a few things here but if not these, than the '03 Turtles.

Those skin textures are really setting off my trypophobia. As soon as Dan showed a close-up of Raphael's head, and said it's like lots of pinholes, I noped right out.

I hope Playmates listens to the criticisms and changes stuff for future releases. Considering they didn't even answer you when you had questions back during the reveal months ago, I'm not too hopeful.

The skin I have a feeling is because these guys will be reused for the 90s movie turtles especially the style of the shell. They remind me very much of the movie turtles. I think they are just cutting costs and will be reusing these for those too down the line

I really hope that this wave contains a shredder and foot soldier at the very least. I like the size and articulation of these figures over the original line; especially for the human characters.

These were Toys R' Us Exclusive in the Philippines and were no longer restocked since they were sold out sometime in late July or early August. The same reaction with the skin and choice of articulation. But they are what it is and need to improve on future releases.

I had a ton of the vintage Turtles but I'm more of a Mutagen Man fan than a Turtles fan now... the pinholes in the skin really elevate these to "never in a million years" from "i dunno maybe i'd think about it if they were on sale or something"

I agree completely with your assessment. I was very disappointed in these, but I did pick them up. I'm hoping they sell well enough for playmates to rerelease them with correct heads, and smooth skin. Also, you're technically wrong (the best kind of wrong) about the bases. They aren't all the same. The ooze patch is different. Mind blowing, I know. And I assumed Leonard's weird new weapon was supposed to be more of like a tonfa, where he holds the handle like a joystick, and the blade points away from the ulnar side of his forearm.

I only have the Leo from this set, but he's a decent display figure. Have you seen the new Sonic 3 figures? I think you should do a review on those! Sonic and Shadow are SUPER articulated!

they seem overall as a real improvement over the originals, however you are correct that the texture is frog like and not turtle like. turtles have scales, just like snakes. the designers did something weird there and it didn't work.

Even frogs don’t have skin like that; Their skin is porous but overall still very smooth and looks nowhere near like that.

I think these look pretty cool and there are some nice touches. But as you've pointed out, there are some interesting design choices that certainly could detract. You gave them a more than fair review for my part.

I really would have liked these had the Turtles Of Grayskull not existed! If these had the MOTU Origins articulation, smooth skin and Leo and Donnie having their correct heads?! I would have bought them in a heart beat ❤

If Anyone is looking to display these on a wall, the Toysheild WWF1 protector houses the remaster box very well so you can protect the box and hang it on the wall.

Dan: We're also talking about a 50 DOLLAR figure! *S7 Ultimates Raph with warped sai pops on screen* I've had Ultimates with the top of the head/bandana was glued on off-center. Glad to know it's not limited to smaller companies.

I picked up a set I like them for what it is. The issues you mentioned like the skin texture, the Donnie and Leo head swaps and cut joint ankles did bother me a bit at first and then once you have them for 13 bucks I mean it's what it is. They have the same articulation as the Mutant Mayhem figures and nobody whine about it I know deep down we all know Leo and Donnie's head are swapped but as a toy I don't look bad it's not like you know it's a swap between Batman and Robin. Ask for the skin texture doesn't really show u less you look close. Get what they are trying and its not bad. Just take some time to adjust

My only problem is the ankle joint. Wish it were a ball joint like MOTU origins. I feel like smooth skin might have made them look like cheap plastic. Overall for $11 or $12, I don't think these could possibly be any better.

I haven’t engaged with the brand since the original live action movies and 80-90s cartoon…plus I roughly remember my friends having these figures. These figures kind of hit the mark for me….even the skin deco. I never really collected the originals.

Yeah, I just had a look at some pictures of turtles, and they should be a combination of a "cobblestone" pattern of hexagon-like scales, or just wrinkles on the more flexible parts like around the neck. They definitely don't have that weird pockmarked texture.

I didn't think I would love them as much as I do. The skin texture did bother me at first when I saw the picture but in hand they are pretty awesome. I was super surprised how cheap they were. Love them. I have them displayed with the reissue turtle van. They fit perfect.

This line got me back into collecting TMNT after not commiting to the Super 7s $55 price. This is a good, if not better substitute, on top of that you can use your vintage line as filler, they fit perfectly with the old vehicles.

So... I like the overall look of the figures Though I kind of wish they were just slightly more muscular to be more in line with the originals, but they do cut a good figure. I also like the updated articulation, but I would be much happier with front and back ankle tilts rather than ankle rotation, as you said. The accessories look great, I love that they come with a diorama piece, and I can't complain about the price point. But... that skin texture. If it had been more subtle, like on the Movie Star Turtles, it would have been fine. If it had been totally absent, it would have been even better. I still picked up one, just to give them a fair chance, but the skin kills it for me. All of that said, I do think Raph somehow wears the look best, for what that's worth. I'm also glad you pointed out the crooked faces! I was half convinced I was just seeing things.

Me, I'm not a turtle collector, but I wanted some turtles to live with my MotU Origins figures....then they came out with the Turtles of Grayskull line, which I am very happy with. That said, I was thinking about grabbing some other turtle figures so my Grayskull Turtles would have better accessories. I might get these for that.

I've said this before; I think the changes made are to differentiate the Remastered Turtles from the originals. I just think they took it one step too far. They're not bad figures for the price.

Yeah if they would have done the skin texture smooth I would have instantly picked em up, not all about that chicken pox look. But, sadly no, hard pass for me especially with the head swap thing

I think the idea was close to perfect, but they completely failed the execution. The worst is giving them noses and switching Donnie & Leo's mouths. After that, the bumps and then the foot articulation.

Leo/Donnie's heads being swapped doesn't really bother me but Raph's face being crooked does. The textured skin has grown on me (that sounds gross lol) - I would still prefer smooth skin, but I can accept the mottled look. Definitely not as bad as the initial pictures made it look. The ANKLES though. Woof. I would gladly give up the extra weapons or the rooftop bases if they had just given them rocking ankles. That aside... I do really like them.

I definitely think the skin would put me off. I know the movie figures back in the day had that whole thing going, but my first experience at a different textured Turtle was a pizza flinging, slingin, whatever the buzzword, Mikey. There was something to his skin that just put me off. Hopefully they'll do a run of smoother finishes down the line per feedback 🤞

I have them, and I like them. The skin texture is - meh at best. It looks even worse when put up next to the OG Sketch Playmates TMNTs who actually do have a texture to their skin that matches lizards/turtles better. It's subtle, but a nice texture. Would have preferred these with a similar texture.

I saw these at a Walmart in the next town over from where I live a few weeks back, but I passed on them mainly because I’m focusing on the Mutant Mayhem/Tales figures for my kid at the moment. I might eventually pick them up, but I’m also not a fan of the skin texture. And I also don’t have any nostalgia associated with the vintage toys, so I’m not in a real rush to grab multiple iterations of TMNT. For now, Mutant Mayhem/Tales and Turtles of Grayskull are probably good enough for me and my son. Boy, those display stands are pure laziness. Such a shame. ~Damon

Such a huge fan of these guys. I think the orange peel skin texture looks so much better in person and I think they are my favorite Turtles from Playmates so far:) really looking forward to grabbing the Party Wagon rerelease to go with them and they look awesome in the Mutant Mayhem Sewer Playset.

They are out there . State by state i guess .Walmarts in my area have huge endcaps filled with all of them. I don't flip and i don't like the bumpy skin so i passed on these.

When I found them they were also in an end cap, all sprawled out and at least three full sets just sitting there. I grabbed them due to the low effort find.

As a Donatello fan the texture bothers me and the purples not matching on him REALLY bothers me. The purple on the Bo looks right. Wish the other purple places matched.
