This may sound a bit strange, but it seems a bit more respectful for their deaths to stay out of the limelight because of how the media has been over the past few years. At least this way their families have had the chance to grieve without all the extra attention and have the opportunity to process it on their own terms.

Death by age 70 used to feel so far away - seemed that it was about as close as infinity. But seeing my childhood and young adult friends on a "who died" list makes death so much more real. So many memories, given to us by such talented people! Wherever they are, let's hope they're entertaining all those around them, and getting nominated for post-life emmys every week. Until we meet again, I'll see you all in reruns.

Well, there goes my childhood...so MANY wonderful memories (I tried to avoid this video too until I couldn't). As my beloved brother (sadly also deceased in '89) and I were then both 'latchkey' kids, we found so much joy from watching these stars on TV (back then it seemed that the main movie cable channels were HBO, TMC, Showtime & Cinemax...and that was it for our TV movies besides Blockbusters & afterschool specials, though we were pretty busy with school activities and/or working; Atari was around & Nintendo was starting to make a huge name for itself). I know all generations say this but I really do wonder how the shows have since compared to the wonderful decade that is the '80s. May everyone in this video RIP (my 'big brother too)!

Jay Thomas' character was killed off in Cheers after he made a crude remark about Rhea Pearlman during his side gig as a "shock jock". Rhea Pearlman just happened to be listening to the show at that time, and the rest is history. Source: IMDb - Cheers

Dixie Carter as Julia Sugarbaker was a magnificent character. TV liked to make Southerners out as uneducated rubes. Carter was anything but that. An intelligent successful woman, who didn't have to rely on a man for support. A fine lady as an actress, and as a person.

You refer to Richard Mulligan and Catherine Helmond as playing "elderly" characters. Mulligan was in his 50s in his show, and Helmond, while not young, could not be described as elderly. The only person who played a prominent role as an elderly cast character was Estelle Getty on The Golden Girls. I don't think you know the meaning of the word "elderly."

Richard Mulligan was sort of the TV version brother from another mother of Leslie Nielson. Played plenty of heavies and starred in intense dramas. Then someone cast him in an outrageous satire based here upon the art form of The TV Soap Opera and in an incredible cast of characters including the young Billy Crystal well Richard Mulligan truly shines among the other lunatic diamonds!😂🤣📺B.W.

And the really funny thing about that was Estelle Getty was played by a woman who was considerably younger than the other cast members portraying golden girls, despite playing the mother of one! I wish I could remember her name right now. She was an outstanding and convincing performer.

Miss Sandy: Estelle Getty was the actual name of the Actress. The character's name was "Sophia Petrillo." There was a referential emphasis on "Streetcar Named Desire" with one of the ladies being named "Blanche" and an ex husband being named "Stanley."🤔📺B.W.

From the thumbnail and from some of the comments before even looking at the video description or viewing the video I knew that I would probably know about most of the deaths listed. I was right, there are only 3 maybe 4 names I didn't recognize but upon seeing their faces recall hearing about their deaths. Now days you have to be under a rock to not have heard about a celebs death. Or the celeb was popular many years before you were born and you never saw their work or didn't realize you had seen them.
