I would avoid New Hampshire for the obnoxious insane libertarian fanatics that are taking over. Screaming "FREEDOM!". And calling everything they disagree with "government overreach". If you need an example look at the disastrous libertarian experiment called Freetown where they took over a small town in New Hampshire and completely destroyed the municipal budget and we're soon overrun with black bears because they thought being told not to feed black bears was government overreach. So those would be your neighbors

I absolutely love Vermont. It’s one of my favorite places to visit. I understand they have issues with housing prices and jobs but I found this whole thing to be rude, mocking, insulting and sarcastic. There’s tons to do there, the people are lovely, the nature is gorgeous. The fact that it doesn’t have McDonald’s everywhere and ugly billboards is one of the attractions.

Some things to clarify. -There is a Target -I moved to Vermont less than two years ago and it’s been growing, not like some other states, but homes are selling within 4 days for more than the asking price. -Depending on where you live you can get to the New Hampshire/Maine coastline in a couple hours and the beaches are beautiful. -We have Sea Gulls, super weird to see, but they’re here. -Schools are amazing!!! -Maple Creamee(maple soft serve with a higher fat content) is like nothing I’ve had anywhere in the Country. -True Vermonters are the nicest people you’ll meet. -Even with the snow the roads are kept plowed better than any other state I’ve lived or traveled too, which is too many. Having lived in many places, Vermont is in my top three. Highly recommend Vermont!!!

As a flatlander I moved to Rutland in 2004 and stayed for almost 15 years. Made many friends young and old, hippies and Yankees. Vermonters are very community minded, good and welcoming people. The natural beauty of the state combined with its preserved colonial history and "green" environmental policies (no highway or road billboards) create breathtaking scenery. Great place to raise a family or grow old in. Sadly the young people I met who cherished the simple rustic beauty of Vermont life but who were not "educated", white collar workers can not find the type of employment to sustain a good living. Many turn to drugs facing a future without the possibility of upward economic mobility.

@@jmongmon1100 No, and it isn't necessary to insult my intelligence with the Trump reference. I do have a sister that works in the largest hospital in Vermont and the numbers have been spiking. You probably listen to Tucker Carlson to get your information. Using number like 12K has no significance unless you include total population. I live in a single City In NC with a population much larger then all of Vermont and the entire county to this date has had 67 thousand since the beginning with only 444 deaths. It's all a matter of percentages of population. Vermont did stay pretty stable in the beginning but has started to increase more recently. Having lived there for 50 years, I am completely aware of the population centers and the natural geography for social distancing. There is nothing there to draw a crowd. That makes a huge difference. I did word my statement wrong because I meant to say that it was "starting to catch up", not that it had caught up. That was my error.

We Vermonters love our neighbors and communities and enjoy helping others and spending time with people whom we are not related too. We have beautiful lakes and ponds that many of us spend every day at in the summer, breathing in the freshest air in the usa and swimming in the cleanest bodies of water. While it does get very cold in the winter, the warm summers make up for it. We are not all the same, not everyone is into drugs, or a hippie, or reserved. We are also the most loving state. I too want to move to Vermont. I'm a native of Washington, DC and have lived in Philly, NYC, and the Raleigh-Durham Area. One of my best friends, who is like a sister to me, is from Bennington. The first time I visited was in 2005, I didn't know what to expect. I had never been North of NYC, I'm a straight up city boy, and being of color, I was kind of nervous. After 1 day that nervousness was gone, I absolutely fell in love with the place; and it was Mud Season. The people are so laid back and nice, but will tell you what's on their minds with no filter. I love the whole vibe and attitude of the people. I try to make it up there to visit my now adopted family at least once a year. I'm from western MA and have lived on the border of VT for most of my life. I've had/have many friends in VT and family history in VT (Brattleboro area). @@NickJohnson I was just watching this video again and, about 3 years ago, I did actually move to Vermont when a job and living situation presented themselves. It was a totally unplanned move, but I'm living in Bennington and I love it. It's a beautiful area and Albany and the Capitol Region of NY are less than an hour away, so there are places to go if you enjoy live music like I do, but I've always traveled all over New England and upstate NY for that anyway. The only thing I would complain about is that Bennington is largely devoid of good cuisine; have to travel for that too.
@MasterArpeggioSystem2 ай бұрын
As for cultural diversity, VT is improving in the south, where it borders MA. A lot of young college students come here from South America (and people from Jamaica) to work at the ski resorts and in local businesses. Most of them love it and I've noticed some moving here. They love the beauty, nature, seasons, etc. but acknowledge it's expensive and apartments are hard to find. There's good Indian and Asian cuisine in Brattleboro and even in Wilmington, a big tourist town during almost all seasons (just a small lull in the spring, when locals get to catch their breath). However, MA is just a short drive once you have a car and there's a lot of great food in the Pioneer Valley and the Berkshires. Wilmington is such a tourist area that I like to play a game: see if I can spot three cars in a row with VT plates. It's difficult in most seasons, driving or parked cars. The trade-off is the nature. The Green Mountain National Forest is right here in Southern VT, the gateway to traveling up Rt.100 through the Green Mountains and a land of skiing, hiking, fishing, boating, camping and all the outdoor sports you could want. Oh, and a little tip: the best food is often found at Vermont's awesome country stores and not at the restaurants, at least from my experience.
