Watching this video of Burlington through your eyes and hearing your frustration, seeing your shock at a restaurant that had fallen off - and joy at another store that had remained, the wistfulness about the bike shop. And just the mix of negative feelings at watching this place you're /from/, that you cared about, get ruined by drug use and homelessness and just society itself seemingly falling apart at the seams - reminded me a lot of a lot of my feelings when you did some of the Kentucky videos. I would visit frequently between 2001 and 2009, and it was one of the most beautiful and safest towns in America. At each crossing street along church street a police car would be parked with officers hanging out amongst the public. An hour into this video and I’ve yet to see an officer anywhere or even a police car passing by in the background. To the residents of Burlington, your votes matter… you’ve ushered in this destruction and change for the worse, you can reverse it too. One thing I know for sure, I won’t be bringing my son to see this town i once loved and where his parents met, anytime soon. So sad..
