My father was born In Pa. I never lived there. but when he passed away, I took some of his ashes to his hometown and spent over a month in the north central and south central small towns. I found it totally refreshing and beautiful, and most everyone I met were pleasant and very decent people. I didn't want to leave. People were so welcoming to me. I was only going to stay a week and stayed 6 weeks. And yes, Sheetz, it was in the area. I traveled a lot, and I can tell you no matter where you go, there's always idiots but I didn't meet any on my trip up there. Now if you want to be treated rude and see crazy people, go to New Mexico. They don't like anyone that isn't from there. I grew up there, left and when I went back 20 years later, I was told I didn't belong there.....LOL Thank God I still had school friends that still lived there. My roots and most of my life were spent in different parts of PA. I know the state very well and honestly it is nothing like portrayed in this video. PA is a beautiful state with extremely rich history (Quakers) beautiful old buildings and homes and scenery not found anywhere else in the country. There is so much to the state that is awesome, except for the politicians who currently run the state. They are terrible. The people are as down to earth as you can get. I prefer the rural areas of Pa. I lived in Pittsburgh and it is or was a beautiful very unique city, so full of history. I also spent much of my life in Chester County and Snyder county, both gems in the state. Very unique and beautiful places. I just don’t recognize the state you are talking about. It makes me sad to hear all the negativity. You just have to be away for awhile I guess to appreciate how beautiful a state Pa really is

And, every time I drive it I remember George Washington and his army, escaping the Brits in 'captured' Philadelphia, heading up the trail to Valley Forge! Philly is in my bones!

I've worked there as a contractor and a mechanic for the old '73 Twin Stick Mack that fits up behind the old brewery easier than the new trucks. Richard is a bad ass by any regard, but his work ethic and drive are something to behold given his age and wealth. My friend thought he was the janitor the first time he met him because he was sweeping the floors and helping clean up a job site. He actually helped out Hershey to get their efficiency higher on their own production lines and Jim Koch from Sam Adams has nothing but great things to say about him, I drank a beer with Jim after we did his keg line in the old Stroh's brewery in Allentown, so down to Earth billionaires are cool by me. The taxes are way too high in this part of PA for those of us that just want to get by however and the main streets of most of the small towns are reflecting that as people are abandoning once beautiful properties and they are becoming parking lots or dollar stores. Commonwealth= Socialism? Possibly, but I cannot believe they did not mention sweet sauce pizza or Kowalanek's in this video. True story- my truck broke down on a country road once then Amish people picked me up in a horse and buggy and are amazing ball busters. A unique life in PA for sure.
