oo ABOUT NICK MASON AND THE SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS oo
Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken, aka Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets, came together with the simple idea of playing some early Pink Floyd - the songs pre ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ - that had not been given a live outing for decades! This was the first time Nick had played live since Live 8 in 2005! “Why don’t we get a rehearsal room and play some things and see how we feel about it?” Nick suggested...
A few months later, on Sunday 20 May 2018, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets took Pink Floyd’s drummer back to the clubs for the first time since 1967 - Dingwalls in Camden, London. The performance was met with huge adulation across the board**.
Three nights at the Half Moon in Putney followed that same week before announcing a theatre tour through the UK, North America and Europe from September, and they promptly sold out! A handful of extra UK shows were announced for April and May 2019, including two nights at The Roundhouse - the venue where Pink Floyd first played on 15 October 1966, at the International Times launch party.

Went to their show in Detroit Friday night. Sitting 5th row center, my lower back throbbing from the $200 folding chair that was my space capsule for just over 2 hours, it was worth every penny to literally have my soul hand dipped in 100+ decibels of this song. By about the 6th minute the ache had started to be washed away by Nick and his Mates... Brilliant show, except that I realized at 2am on Saturday that no matter the source of how many hundreds of dollars I might spend on headphones, it will never measure up...

I was so lucky to see Pink Floyd on their Saucer tour in 1967. It was a fairly small venue in LA at the Shrine Exhibition Hall. David had just filled the lead guitar and vocal slot. It was totally amazing. The final time I saw them was in San Diego for Division Bell. with six more shows in between. The only show I really missed was the Wall so I did pretty good. I'm right up there in age with David and Nick. So sad to have lost Richard. Their music will live forever.

I ran into one of your contemporaries between the Gilmour shows in New York in 2016 That’s the thing about this band: it stays with you. There was my life before October 20, 1987 (the first time I saw them live), and after that. A truly transitional moment in life. This performance is at once, stunning and so fresh, you might just think you fell in H. G. Wells time machine. Exactly what Rock n Roll needs right now. Perfect.

You really couldn't believe at the time how groundbreaking and radical and progressive pink floyd were and what they unleashed on such a lucky and incredibly stunned audience.... playing live they were spellbound as if a magician, wizard cast a magical force upon them .... it was the first time ever for the band and audience to become one and gelled and became inseparable tour de force and quissently English ...no other band could possibly have achieved what pink floyd did from the 60's through to Nick's time machine bringing that essence to 2020 and hopefully beyond!!!!

Nick, Nick, Nick.....I have told many of my friends, sometimes in heated discussions, Pink Floyd IS the best band of all time. Yes, we all like AC-DC, Zeppelin, Stevie and many others. But when it came to drummers, I have been in more heated arguments, as I always said Nick was the drummer what personified a band most closely. Many awesome drummers out there, but they are schoolkids to Nick. To see this, and know what the world missed out on by Floyd having members leave, pass on...yeah, Pink Floyd was by far the most amazing band in music, no gender intended, as they never fit into a gender of music....they made their own way, and once someone hears that one song that clicked with them, it ALL makes sense......no one band could have did what they did, and are still doing. Even Roger, he just walked away. But David had it, Rick had it, and Nick did as well. These men are in their 70's and still mesmerizing us, the three that are still with us....WOW! Kudos to them and their legacy, every single one of them. And the boots left to be filled.....unimaginable. They can play the songs, but can they find the passion, the pure drive to...entrance us, their fans? This was awesome!

I loved seeing them perform at Royal Albert Hall on 23rd April 2022. I remember thinking that some of the songs had a punk edge to them (i.e. Clash and Sex Pistols even); it felt like Gary Kemp gave them that edge in his guitar playing and singing.
