Great pics! 5 great tunes, off a great album and still other great tunes to go. Don't forget The Bazaar of this album too. I saw these guys live just after their first album released at a little bar called Zaphod Beeblebrox, in Ottawa Canada. There was probably fifty of us there in the crowd. Everybody was looking around at each other thinking "holy crap, these guys are next level." Amazing and intimate performance I will never forget. Love the playing Nick!

Great reaction Nick! I don't know how I missed this video release - almost half a year later catching this. The Tea Party are an excellent 3-piece, from Windsor, Ontario. Seen them live 8 times (they frequented my of Kitchener - so we'd go see them every time). Hard Progressive Rock would be appropriate - not too many 'rock' bands would pull a sitar out midway through a show - but we were ALL in for it! I would HIGHLY recommend checking a few songs from their first album - The River, Save Me, Midsummer Day...for starters. Their third album, Transmission continued the awesomeness - check out: Temptation, Babylon, & Release...

glad you liked it and found it interesting. Agree their final production was a bit loud. As good as their studio releases were they were even better live. Just emotionally invested every show I saw {4 times} and the lead singer/guitar player jeff martin is prominant front man for the band. If their ever in the area they put on a good show. Never really made it the US though. Nice suggestion on Morphine, I know them. Favorite is Like Swimming followed by Bueno. cheers

Awesome Canadian 3 piece band, a modern singer who sounds like Jim Morrison, who often play weird guitar tuning like Jimmy Page, even plays some songs with a bow.

Always loved it when Jeff Martin pulled out the bow! He wore his influences on his sleeve - and as I am a longtime Zep fan, I was very pleased to see this! Then came the sitar playing...wow...these guys were awesome live!

I once read the music described as Moroccan-Roll... And it just stuck with me. I absolutly love their music. The hardest part of trying to learn a Tea Party song to play it is playing the "guess the tuning" game, Jeff Martin rarely (if ever) uses standard tuning... It could be DADGAD, some songs are DADADE.

There is definitely more gold to be mined here though I do agree the album was recorded too high. Glad thîs marathon has a slow burn for views compared to where it started. 👍👍 Songs like Correspondances, and Majestic Song are really good. Love Tea Party fans.

That's crazy! I was JUST thinking a day or 2 ago, if anyone would introduce N&L to "The Tea Party"! How awesome this is, and of course, the comparison's to Jim Morrison meets "_____________" abound 😛. - Nice going Eagles Rule! I love this triO! Edit: Hmmm . . . @ 6:16 Nick, is this really something that is "heavier" than you usually listen to? I mean _Blotted Science,_ Watchtower, Dream Theater (their heaviest tracks), Haken or older Metallica and the-like, are MUCH heavier than this, and I wouldn't say its "Industrial", even though their Wiki page mentions that (and you silly German! You are pronouncing _Rammstein_ correctly in YOUR language :P Hehe. But I don't hear them or Korn, as Korn is much more funky and down-tuned), just riff heavy on certain tracks, including Blues and the Arabic/Double harmonic scale. Tea Party is very much like *King's X* though, hard to categorize because they touch on a lot of different influences. Its odd, heavy and nothing a Radio station can put their finger on, which unfortunately disrupts the "formula", but 2 bands that would have become more popular, with many others, if the radio of the 1990's/2000's took more chances and gave their listeners more credit that they could take-in new adventurous music. I'd say they were "Prog Metal" because they are heavier than Progressive Rock, but a lot more than just Rock. Though I also don't hear any similarities to "Serj Tankian" of System of a Down . . . as most are hearing "Jim" in the comments as well. They could have easily done plenty of Doors covers with a modern twist. They also remind me of an unusual Heavy Rock/Metal band called "Saigon Kick" who also had a lot of various styles on 1 album (but a very different vocalist/timbre). - TURN IT UP! 😆(maybe the recording was part of the "Loudness Wars" that were going on. Rick Beato has talked about that). This was really good though Nick, I hope you get more into them. I've been meaning to get their catalogue, but have a few songs on various playlists. And gosh Nick . . . how nice to have a girl that asks; "Play me something before bed" 🥲.

Helloooooo Just heard Brand X in here so I believe you might like some of these suggestions, not all fusion. Brand X Algon live version from the plot thins. Audiencegasm. Savage rose - a girl I knew Savage rose - Dødens Triumf full album (Master piece, main reason the band is now in the danish canon together with Hans Christian Andersen etc) GONG french fusion. Gazeuse and shamal Peter Gabriel Birdyfilm Tell me where you Are going with Silje and Pat Metheny. Pop. Bauhaus Goth-Newwawe Live Suisse 1978 Siouxie and the Banshees Oregon- Crossing. Maybe the best album ever made.

I see that you started to check out Ricky Lee Jones Music. On the live album Titled (Naked Songs) check titled Track (Weasel and the White Boy Cool) It has the most rightous Grove. The other's I would suggest is titles (On Saturday Afternoons in 1963), Last chance to Texaco and The Horses) a song she recorded with Steely Dan's Walter Becker after he beat his heroin addiction. Take a look at Joni Mitchells track on her recording title (Mingus.) Title Tracks (God Must be a Boogie Man and The Wolf That Lives In Lindsey) Enjoy.

BTW - Their music would be in the Arabic & Persian Scale/Locrian mode with a major third and major seventh degree. Morocco (as the band has been called "Moroccan Roll") uses similar scales. (Arabic Scale) Also known as Mayamalavagowla, Bhairav Raga, Byzantine scale, Arabic (Hijaz Kar), and Gypsy major. So its been influenced by many regions, which also influenced Spain and their regional folk music.

@@mvunit3 double harmonic major because of flattened 2nd and 6th degrees. Or the seventh mode of the major scale. Can be called a gypsy scale when diminishing the step between 1st & 2nd degrees.
