I think that in the end, looking back, you will love all of these images. I would have been in heaven shooting those boats but I would have been distracted by wanting to also photograph the noisy shorebirds. That is the problem with being both a landscape and a wildlife photographer. I loved the coastal sunset wildflower imagery.

Great photos Nick, Love the close up of the old boats along the shoreline, but must say the earlier one with the small pool of water in the foreground is fantastic. Look forward to seeing the rest with you and what seem to becoming the 4 Amigos with Thomas, Gavin and Uncle Grumpy. Between yours and their soon to be post, plenty of KZbin watching to give me inspiration, laughs and enjoyment between work and hopefully the trips out in the nature myself. Best to you and thank your for sharing.

The boat ship shots are epic, Thank You so much, I am not a photographer, I am a painter and I enjoy watching, is always good to study light. I am unable to budget the 2 grand it would have taken to go there. and health insurance ,snake bites simply cause swelling eh? lol ..diehards, excited for all of you. I am of part Scottish descent and enjoy seeing any landscapes of Scotland. I hope to go there one day to paint.

So the wide shot of the tree with the photographer needs some love, I think that's a shot most landscape photographers can appreciate. Having Thomas as your model isn't bad either, kind of like a photo with Ansel Adams, masters of the craft. Of course you were the one who captured it so great eye! Looking forward to the four of you together

Nick, it’s fascinating to see you evolve as an artist and photographer. Finding an intimate landscape shot when the grand landscape scene wasn’t going to work was a sign of real maturity and confidence. I personally liked best the second boat shot, with the nail interacting asymmetrically with the strip of light. Keep practicing that kind of composition and I’ll bet you will evolve your own style for abstracts.

Your images are stunning. I especially love your image of the lone tree on the hill. Reminds me of an Andrew Wyeth painting. Wyeth spent years paining at Kuerners Farm in Chadds Ford, Pa. Across the way there is a small hill with a lone evergreen on top. Wyeth was mesmerized by the hill and tree. You have a painters eye.

The trick is to not put too much pressure on yourself. So often we dont give ourselves permission to fail, but its amazing how liberating it is to be just say.. you know what, I am just going to have fun, and its no big deal if I dont get a great shot, because i am here to enjoy the process. Often when you take the time to do that, you end up getting good shots you wouldn't have been brave enough to try otherwise.

The flower/pool shot and the tree on the hill were my favourites. You have some similar gear to myself (Shimoda and RRS ballhead. Both of which I love). Apart from the camera. Mine’s a Fujifilm. It brought a smile of recognition as you followed the light and I realised I do just that without knowing. Many’s the time I’ve come across photographers waiting and waiting for their compositions and I can see the light for the composition is wrong and I’ve gone off and pointed my camera where the light is falling instead, even though I want the same composition. I’ve always been glad i did. I suppose that makes me a half decent photog. Pity my vid skills suck 😊
