Coming from a work background in precast concrete, a common stressing strand has the same 7-wire section profile, although obviously being high strength steel it doesn't twist so tightly and I'd never seen it as following a sacred form before. Intriguing. Also, I'm impressed with the fabulous effects and designs you achieve without all the fabulously expensive tools that are available. A refreshing and encouraging set of videos. Best wishes

hi Andrew, interesting to read the seven strand profile is used in the concrete industry … must be a very strong form. The geometry of the hexagon's fairly simple, it's an extrapolation of a brick wall. Offset each row, and you have 6 inflection points. It's also an extension of the triangle, one of the strongest known forms.

thanks for that Jim, there are a few different options for cleaning with acid … safety pick and other products from jewelry supply companies, hot vinegar and salt mix and the one I use is from over the counter at my local hot tub supply company it’s called pH reducer. It’s a product that is sold to help manage chemical levels in the spa and swimming pool industry. @Nickscreativestuff6 ай бұрын
Hi Anand, I have seen pieces of flat silver sheet soldered onto the cut ends and shaped for a neat finish. i’m sure simple cap ends would also look good. Being so reflective charcoal helps build heat enabling the metal to melt a lot quicker it’s also soft enough for shapes to be carved allowing the molten metal to fill a hollow and form a shape on the end of the wire … N

@Nickscreativestuff2 жыл бұрын
Hi JC, thanks for your comments, wasn’t sure about using the word sacred with all its connotations … but what the heck … went for it anyway … have always loved the look of geometry and symmetry … The copper i used was 1.7 and the silver 2mm diameter. Great playing with charcoal it’s a very versatile material. Did more of it in this previous video … kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4DEqqaoZsikatk A hole is first drilled in the bronze balls that fits tightly over the silver wires before soldering with traditional jewellers silver solder. Got left behind with social media… so KZbin is now the only one I do. All the best you … Nick

Hi Nick, do you know the name of the tool you can use to make a chain square. I've seen a round Byzantine chain been pulled through it. It was rectangular in shape made of stainless steel at the center was a single circle with some sort of adjustable metal wheels that cause the round chain to be square off.... Didn't look like a bespoke tool, but can't find it anywhere on line...

Hi Damien, I think what you’re talking about is whats called an adjustable square drawer plate. I once saw a really big one being used in a video with adjustable wheels in the centre. this was made by an old Russian jewellery tool production company.
