I just got my Ontario Rat 2 in D2 steel yesterday and I love it. I know they aren't the very best quality and I'm still fairly new to the knife life, but it's great for what I need. It definitely won't be my last knife, considering that I only have 4. My oldest but not my first knife is a Bermuda Green Case medium stockman that was passed to me from an old family friend that had it for a few years before, and then I bought a CRKT Burnley Squid and Morakniv Pro S last year, and now the Rat 2. I know it's not much of a collection by a long shot, but the Rat 2 brings me a lot of joy. It flies right out when I flick it and it feels great in my hand and I've already started customizing it. Thanks for all of the content and for helping me to learn more about knives, steels and what tools/gear are best for me

Gotta have a multi tool. No matter what other knife I carry. I feel undressed without the multi tool. I carry a Leatherman Wave and a Rat 1 with D2 blade for the same or less money than the Leatherman Charge. The multi tool gives me tool options that help me avoid abusing a knife blade and the Rat 1 gives me a bigger more comfortable handle (big hands) for longer cutting tasks. The wave also has a serrated blade which means I am carrying 3 blades. This gives me a lot of extended cutting time. But who said knife choice had to be logical? Nick taught me to carry what brings me comfort and joy. I think Nick enjoys the pain of forcing himself into making these decisions. Kinky!
@LarryEMorse5 жыл бұрын
Stuck with a choice of only one blade, it would have to be a Leatherman. I carried a Wave for years but now it's the Signal for the hammer. Also the pocket/belt clip comes already on it. That and a compact razor blade utility knife is REALLY all you need, (but I still carry more...)
@kevola57395 жыл бұрын
LarryEMorse I liked carrying the Wave with a pocket clip but recently had the tool open in the pocket on a number of occasions. Not sure if this was due to the wear and tear on the tool or the fact that I scramble over machinery all day but was proving dangerous in certain situations. I now carry it on my belt using a RAE sheath which carries secure and easy to deploy but Is prone to scratching paint if you get too close to objects. Something to keep your eye on as the tool ages. Stay safe brother!
@LarryEMorse5 жыл бұрын
@@kevola5739 I was carrying the wave on my belt using only the clip and never had it open, but that's aNOTHER thing I like about the Signal. It can be locked shut so there's no chance of opening. I like the tan color from Cabelas better than the shiny silver Wave too.

Lol I would have had the same last three, but the Bowie would have went first for weight, the neutron would have went second only because we don't know longevity of the company, which I hope is lasting, but the Chapparal would have been my choice for the fact that Spyderco has been around for a longgggg time, probably will be when I leave this world, which helps with warranty/parts and XHP has been easier to sharpen for my experience than 20cv. Pleroma is close but as my only knife I would like the Benchmade warranty. •Under $400 - We Knives Eschaton. It's my only knife currently in the bracket. ● Overall - ZT 0450. I'm gonna say, for one knife for life, a Shiro F3R in Vanax 37 steel: - Vanax has excellent edge retention and is all but rust-proof - should easily last a lifetime - Blade is long enough for pretty much anything you'd use a folding knife for, but still thin and slicey - Composite handles provide good grip, will withstand wear and damage fairly well, and can always be replaced by any component knife modder - Loose ball bearings give you the performance of bearings, but can be replaced relatively easily by buying aftermarket balls of the same diameter - If the titanium lockbar face starts to wear out, you can get a modder to weld some tungsten carbide onto it, giving it more life

Ive owned hundreds of knives, custom, mid tech, all production companies in the book, but my all time favorite would probably be a Spyderco Sage 1. My other absolute favorites were my Emerson mini commanders, ZT 0550, Benchmade 943, and my Striden SnG CC

Good info. It's wonderful we would never really have to pick just one.

My choice at this point in time would be my Cold Steel Lawman in S35VN

I didn't know there are people collecting foldable knifes with so much passion. For 10 years I had a chineese knife which I bought for 4 dollars 20 cents in a small shop across the street. It was alright, I even opened metal cans with it a couple of times. But lately I forgot it in my backpack in the airport and it was confiscated. So I decided to buy something more fancy this time and watched some reviews on KZbin. In the end I bought Spiderco Delica with ZDP-189 steel, it's a bit more expensive than 4 bucks, but it's lighter and the steel is better. Good enough for me to not look for replacement, although I don't think I'll be opening tuna cans with it...

My county in California has zero size limits on knives. Drive 40 minutes into Oakland and they have strict size limits. Out of my collection I'd pick my large Sebenza even though it's larger than what I need. Typically, I find myself carrying my ZT 0450 or my PM3.

My Bugout with the titanium scales. Almost perfect size, slicey blade, good steel but easy to sharpen, flickable and still enough nice to look at. Going for a fixed blade, probably my Lionsteel M4 in m390.

I would probebly go with the small Sebenza,but your choice is absolutely comprehensibly!

It would be my spyderco endura 4. I have my 940 but I’ve broken like 5 springs over the past 2 years.
@Olumin375 жыл бұрын
They really have to switch to regular coil springs...

Same here. Don't have many knives to chose from though. A para 2 s35 or a manix 2 bearing would probably take it's place though.

Yo. That’s why I sold my mini grip. I’m stoked to see someone else with the problem. Whenever I post something similar on forums/ other videos I get flamed and blamed for somehow breaking them.

Yea, I have a manix 2 and a para 2, but I’ve had the endura the longest as it was my first quality knife! As far as just flickabity, 940 takes the cake.

In my bugout the second spring failed shortly after the first. Imo The compressed spring length is too small relitive to the original, slightly fatiguing the spring every time it's used.

I knew it! But It was fun to watch you agonize over those last 3 knives. I feel your pain.

Great video. I love it. That spyderco chapparal is speaking to me. I like the working look of it. Subscribed. Thank you!
