Great list! I'm glad you listed some more obscure gems like Bubble Ghost and Mole Mania! Ducktales and the Mega Man GameBoy games (except maybe 2) were amazing conversions of the NES games! The GameBoy actually had a solid library of games. I also love Super Mario Land 2, Contra Operation C, the Adventure Island games, Kirby's Block Ball, Darkwing Duck, the Bonk games, and Link's Awakening.

Batman is amazingly fun. Metroid 2 is perfect just grab a pencil amd paper and start mapping. that's how I always played it, huge fun to do that like back in the day. Solar Striker rules as well. Super Mario land 2 is one of the best and I also love operation C, the contra game plays perfectly like the nes. Great video!

I might actually do that map drawing to get through Metroid 2 one day! Sounds fun!
@jamesfrankiewicz576813 күн бұрын
The key to Metroid II is just to do a play-through with excessive exploration (use the spider ball), then start a new game and play for time. Also, if you're having trouble with the advanced Metroid mutations: Screw Attack + Space Jump is your friend, stay in mid-air while the metroid is pursuing you, fire off a few missiles when it lets off, then repeat.

Batman with a Gun on the Game Boy! That game rocks I think they were not sure how far they could push the GB & just made Batman shoot a gun! But it is very fun! Don't feel bad about getting far in Gargoyles Quest as I am the same way too! I quote Toy Story all the time when I play that game: Falling with Style! Or in my case, Failing with Style! Ha-Ha! Fun story my 3DS on a flight died, so I pulled out my GB & played Tetris Attack & was able to play exactly one game just as the plane landed it was like perfect timing! I remember finding Gargoyle's Quest in the bargain bin at my local video game store way back in the day for 100 SEK which is about $9,44 because that was the amount I could afford to spend on a game at the moment, I ended up playing the heck out of it, it was so satisfying when I finished it the first time around and it quickly became one of my favourite games for the handheld. I went and bought it on the 3DS eShop before it closed down to relive the nostalgia again which I did, but holy crap I don't remember it being that difficult, how I ever managed to beat it without save states back then I don't know.

Not sure how far you ended up in Final Fantasy Legend 2, but it's cool to see someone talk about it. I'd just note there are no classes, there are a few races to choose from, off the top of my head: Humans (level up stats randomly, but like he said you can influence what levels up based on what you use), Mutants (sort of like humans, but they have slots taken up by innate spells they randomly learn), robots (they do not level at all, are immune to poison and paralysis, and get half use out of items, but they get all their uses back from resting, their stats come purely from equipment) and if you have a party member eat the meat of a monster you can have a monster as a party member. Unless you enjoy trial and error, "leveling up" as monsters requires eating different meat. I'd recommend a guide for monster leveling, as it's not very intuitive lol. My first playthrough was 3 humans and a robot for legend 2. Really fun game.

Actually the 5 in 1 is the first game that came out in this series, only in Europe. The other game is actually the second one but since we never got the first one in the US, they called the first one. It was than ported to Europe. For the vertical shooter, there another one that is Japan only called ZAS. It's actually a technical marvel in terms of graphics because of the multiple layered scrolling background which is normally not possible on the gameboy.

I beat Gargoyle's Quest annually. I beat it a ton of times on original Gameboy (with no backlight, sitting under a lamp), so I have it absolutely down. It is challenging, but it's not as hard as Super Ghouls n Ghosts; hardest game I've ever beaten. I've also beaten Metroid 2 3x, but never got the best ending. The 3rd time I was 13 minutes over the 4 hour mark, so had to take the 2nd best ending again. After that I was done!

Final Fantasy Legend III is a great game, but the story is shorter than Legend II. I like the interface and battle mechanics of Legend III more than Legend II, but overall Legend II just offers so much more story that it is my favorite of the three FF Legend games. The first game is just a pain due to the extremely tiny inventory system, but the story and gameplay is otherwise fine.
