You may have been quiet throughout a lot of that performance, but your face spoke volumes. Your eyes, your expressions when lines like "You've got to kill you, if you wanna kill me", and "Some people know me as hope. Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope" hit you. As someone who nearly deleted herself multiple times over the first 50 years of my life those lines hit especially hard. I love how the musical part ends similarly to how it began, the difference being the joy Ren exhibits through the playing and singing, yet the lights are still flickering wildly. To me that shows the acceptance that the dark side, and the light side have to learn how to live together. To dance together if we are to survive. Great heartfelt reaction man. It's not an easy song to get through, just as the self reflection that is needed to overcome the darkest depths of despair are hard. But it's so very worth it. ❤

Amen!! I like to say AR and BR when it comes to different times in my life. During BR, I was much more guarded when it came to letting people know me. I was very secretive about my life experiences. I was ashamed of some of the things that I have gone through. On the other hand, after February 12, 2023 was when AR began. Since then I have shared my story without shame and embarrassment. I have let people in and my life has shifted immensely. Ren changes you emotionally, mentally, and physically.

AR is a roller-coaster. Recently I finally had a fall from a horse. I'd been riding for 18 months but had been so scared of falling that I kept limiting what I was trying despite my skill. I wasn’t really living. Once I'd had that fall everything that seemed unacceptably risky became clarified. Sure some of the things I was scared of trying I can still categorise as too difficult to try yet. But most of the things I was scared of trying I've done now. I got this. And due to embracing courage and determination, I've somehow now been given a horse with all her expenses and upkeep included in the gift. I'm almost 44. I didn't expect my steam of having a horse to ever come true. And now I have a palomino arabian mare named Shakira who is the best thing in my life

When is a completely independent artist. He’s a lyricist, actor, storyteller, extraordinaire, editor, Director, and producer. Singer and rapper all around gender bender in his storytelling bardcore. He suffered with a misdiagnosed illness for around eight years while he was diagnosed with all sorts of mental disorders and psychosis being treated with heavy psychotic drugs and others that actually made him experience psychosis and hallucinations. At times he spent 23 hours a day in bed. Finally, he was diagnosed with lime disease from a tick when he was 17 years old. At the time he was busing in Brighton solo and with his band the big push he gained a contract with Sony for an album, halfway into it he became extremely ill and couldn’t finish and the contract was canceled Reno and performed this while he was in Alberta, Canada undergoing daily IV treatment and surgeries For massive brain damage and mass damage as well as severe autoimmunity and pain throughout his whole body. Unable to eat anything except mashed up food you were right this is a one take video. 3 still cameras, recorded from beginning to end nine minutes, and then Ren edited them together. It went viral and became an anthem for many peoples experiences with mental health disorders and physical, chronic illnesses, etc., and many who have been gaslit by the medical community. He has changed millions of lives. From there, it’s just been one hit after the other. Master of the one take he decided he wanted to try for a rap album. For an intro to rap reaction to the hunger, Genesis, Illist if out Time, Power. For mental health chalk Ourlines ren x Chinchilla and how to be me by Ren X chinchilla. For Joe, suicide. Storytelling start with the tales of Jenny and screech. And then move through the trilogy money game one, two, and three was recorded for a few hundred dollars, always finding a way and a place to make it work buy money game three you will see him almost a year later with a very healthy budgetin England with all new lighting all new equipment microphones extras choreography in an incredible wrap/storytelling event in the highest movie light quality available! In an interview Ren said that Hi Ren was a one take, the third take they did. They didn't have permission to be in the basement they were in, and they had 4 cameras and two mics. As they were finishing the second take, the building manager walked in and asked them to leave. They begged for another 30 minutes and that was the take they used. However, the very end part when he turns from putting down the guitar and starts talking is a separate take. They were allowed to go back when the building manager helped them submit the correct paperwork. Post production was them just taking footage from the various cameras they had set up to auto record. He's done quite a few single takes, both storytelling and singing solo / duo. The Tale of Jenny and Screech birthed the genre "Bardcore" for a reason. Earlier this year he won a couple of international music awards for best song video for Money Game III which was two takes.

Most people follow this song with The Tales of Jenny and Screech (official video with Violet's Tale on the end). Then they may dive into the Money Game Trilogy. That order will give you more of a glimpse into his acting prowess. After that Ren's rabbit hole is filled with a treasure trove of goodies. Ren loves to collaborate with other singers, all top quality. He fits no pigeon hole. A nightmare for humans who like to put songs into ordered categories/genres. Ren just does his own thing throughout a song. Many (like this) are filmed live and are one takes. This one they had about 4 tries, as they were getting kicked out of the room! He often does remixes. Let the Renegades guide you as to the best version of which song to hear. It is best to hear the official video before the acoustic each time. The other way around is akin to eating dessert before the main meal. It also makes more sense to see the official to get an idea of the story. His acoustics really are sublime.

The order for the Jenny & Screech Trilogy is, “Jenny’s Tale, Screech’s Tale, then Violet’s Tale”. Another good trilogy you would enjoy is “Money Game Pt1, Money Game Pt2, & Money Game Pt3. I would love to hear him and Tom doing a track together. Take the time to scroll through his text posts on KZbin, and you can have a better understanding of him.

You will discover as you go down the rabbit hole, that Ren Gill is one of those rare all round performers, and as he acknowledges, a lot of it is due to his illness and being bedbound for many years. He is a singer rapper poet beatboxer plays keyboards bass guitar and guitar writes all his own beats storyteller and produces everything and...is totally independent!!

Welcome to the rabbit hole! I just discovered Ren 3 days ago. He is a GENIUS! His skill set is like no other. He just recently dropped Troubles which tells his story…sad…torture…healing…hope. His rapping skills ! I am 62 years old! Me listen to rap?!? My kids are wondering what’s going on with me😂😂😂 I LOVE reaction videos, especially with rap. I can really appreciate his talent through their eyes. This guys catalog will make your jaw drop open. So, anyway, glad you got introduced to this young man who has earned all the attention he can get.

Did you find him over the Kujo situation? I did. I’m a law nerd (went to law school didn’t finish bc of life) and so I saw lawyers on KZbin reacting to that. Then I was intrigued and this is the first one I found. He’s a genius and his compassion for others is heartwarming.

@@TiredNSleuthing Kujo Beatdown is recent. (probably part of the reason his illness has knocked him down again for the now. I think most people here found him through other songs first. In fact you understand a lot of the references in the Beat down far more if you hear his other songs and see the videos. He is a master at placing easter eggs in all the songs. An admirer of Orwells' animal farm, of history, of using symbolism, like the flowers he holds in the Dotter beat down. It is endless and you have to watch, listen and experience every piece so many times to catch everything....and even then. He is true genius.

Little bit of trivia about mental illness I suffer from complex PTSD. It differs from regular PTSD because it is able to cause further mental disorders. Mine was a result of severe abuse from birth until I was 12 years old where I tried to take my life managed to escape that fate and instead spent the next 5 1/2 years living on the streets Homeless. Being beaten day after day week after week year after year I got tougher and angrier and meaner and colder. By the time I was 16, I had gained the reputation for the guy that you do not mess with unless you want to be hospitalised or worse. I had also started martial arts and that only improved my ability to defend myself. I did not start fights ever in my life but I have ended many. 17 1/2 I joined the Australian army and spent the next 35 years in the military retiring only because of a severe vehicular incident resulting in the death of two fellow soldiers and friends and almost costing me. My life was given one percent chance to live having my heads split in half with my brain like a mohawk exposed from my skull 64 broken bones in total including eight vertebrae all but one rib was broken in multiple places which in turn punctured my internal organs including my aorta causing me to have four heart attacks Seven weeks in a coma and lots of therapy, and grief counselling after being told that I would never walk or talk again as not only had my spine been severely damaged but my throat had also been crushed so I spent the next eight years unable to speak or swallow having to be fed through a tube in my abdomen losing 3/ quarters of my body weight in six months I was a skeleton wrapped in Skin. The amount of mental trauma this caused me lead to bipolar disorder schizophrenia dissociative identity disorder commonly known as multiple personalities agoraphobia social phobia severe brain damage resulting in short-term memory loss to the point where I forget simple names for every day items for example I once forgot the name of the toaster and spent several minutes trying to remember much to the amusement of my family. I ended up calling at the bread warmer my girlfriend and my children now called The to the bread warmer just to take the piss. I want my 16-year-old daughters name for three days and instead of trying to remember I just gave up and called her older girl child which she didn’t even seem to care. I got more of a whatever dad kind of vibe from her lol. Which is a good thing as my girlfriend and my five children and in three months I have identical twin girls do so my family is going to get so much bigger but despite my disabilities we are all incredibly happy and love each other regardless of our faults, we are extremely lucky family with much love shared between us. We use humour to deal with day-to-day issues. For example, one day my girlfriend asked me the question that no man wants to be asked.’ sweetie do these jeans make my ass look fat.’ now I will note that my girlfriend has an absolutely incredible figure but she does have a big booty which I love and I thought it would be a great moment to tease her, so I replied no darling, the jeans don’t make your ass look fat, you’re fat ass makes your ass look fat’. whilst this may seem mean she gives as good as she takes and it made fun of me for many things but this is how my family is literally take the piss out of each other every day when I said to her she just sighed. And my 16-year-old daughter said to me. ‘ dad if you keep saying things like that we’re going to have to sell you on eBay.’ to which I quickly replied great you and your mother can split the whole five dollars that you get for the scrap metal in my body.’ Because after my accident I ended up with 2 1/2 kg of titanium holding my skull and bones together. my children often call me the terminator because I’m more metal than man and apparently I can’t be killed It’s an ongoing family However back to ren. He says at the end of the video that he suffers from psychosis psychosis can relate to delusions/belief in things that are real or hallucinations both visual and audio/voices in your head now one thing that they don’t tell you on the daily is that people that suffer from psychosis often believe that the causes of their psychosis or an underlying power is at play in their illness and the power is offering demonic or angelic or godly hence his comments at the end about separating angels from Demons from gods. This is true of many people that suffer from psychosis regardless of not whether they believe in God of the Bible. I am an atheist and I also suffer from demonic delusions and often times think that God will save me if I just believe enough even though I don’t believe in God as I have too much of a scientific mind to ignore the evidence of Darwinism and the theory of evolution as opposed to a talking snake that tells you to eat a magical fruit to make you wise forgive my sarcasm but the Bible is a very difficult read having read it many times and still making no sense of the story even though there are many great points and great life morals in there so this song isn’t about Good versus evil. This is about mental illness at its core foundation and the negative voices telling you that you’re not good enough. That nothing you do will ever be good enough that you are a fake that you are nothing and then the other side of yourself the side that has Hope wanting to ignore that negative voice and say no I am good enough. I am not going to listen to you. I am going to beat you one way or another. I just don’t know how. Every day of my life, I can consider ending it yet every day of my life I make it through to the next partly because I’m stubborn and strong willed. But mostly due to Support of my amazing girlfriend and children. And that I could never do that to them it would be the ultimate active selfishness. my childhood, the streets and the army accident all caused Mental and physical damage to me. Yet I genuinely believe that I am NOT MY DIAGNOSIS!! I am not bipolar I HAVE BIPOLAR. I am not schizophrenia. I HAVE SCHIZOPHRENIA. It’s like telling someone with cancer that they are cancer. It’s wrong but you know how many people say to me oh you’re bipolar on a regular basis? These are the kinds of things that add to the stigma of mental illness and Ren is doing the type of thing that cures this stigma. And only someone who has suffered at the hands of mental trauma or severe physical illness, which also causes Mental trauma every time can fully understand what it’s like other people can empathise sure and that is great. We need more empathy in this world but we need more artists like Ren to bring light to real life subjects. Which he is doing amazingly this song about mental illness his other song of journey and screech bringing light to the circle of domestic violence and his two songs about his real life friend taking his own life when they were young and those songs are called Suicide and for Joe (should be watched in that order) they are bringing attention to very important issues affecting people are across the globe. Not to mention his other songs, money game parts one two and three (three being my favourite) keep deep diving into this artist and I guarantee you your channel will just get more popular. And if you want a second artist to die into Renren has also done music videos with a great female singer named Chinchilla. Ren has described her as his musical sibling. I believe I first seen her perform on TikTok but then she was on the voice UK and got a three chair turn she has amazing vocals she can Rap and flow and flow just like Ren she has some belt notes that rival artists like Adele. Check her out subscribe to her channel she is also an independent artist and is very close friends with Ren. anyone this should check out both artists and all of their songs and check out their official channels and leave them some love if you truly want to support them

Nobody told you in latest comments. Ren went through hell in his early years and lost his best friend Joe. He shortly before that got a tick bite but was misdiagnosed....... On top of mental issues and misdiagnosis was committed from 17 till 25 or 26. He had written poetry and knew some guitar. He taught himself how to play and transformed his poetry to music.

Ren is Sooooo talented. He plays several instruments, is an autodidact, great storyteller, rapper, and an honest guy . Many people can relate to some points what he sings about. He was and truly still is ill. He lost a good friend by suicde when he was young. He was misdiagnosed for many years. many years later turned out he had lyme that allready damaged so much of his body. along with the heavy meds he had to use.. and is still using. its a long story , He made kind of podcasts about it. you can find it on one of his youtube channels. After finnisching that serie he published the song trouble. with a nice vid while he was for treatement in Canada. But if you watched that one you should watch the accoustic version as well. But first I would say, after watching the jenny and screech tyrilogy check out sick boi ( yes its back up after some licencing trouble via a beat he bought , but thats a complete different story)

Ren's been doing his own stuff for a long time. Before, during and after the Big Push. He was actually signed by Sony, at the age of 19 but became too ill to perform or record, only a few months later, so the contract wasn't renewed. He spent most of his 20s bedridden, in chronic, 24hr pain, which meant he couldn't really sleep. He also developed severe autoimmunity, making him highly allergic to virtually all food, for instance. Although his health has improved over the last half a dozen years, he remains seriously and chronically ill, with a whole range of conditions. He is still in constant pain, though the level of pain has dropped, generally speaking.

Renegade here, and I'm subbing for the complete Ren journey! Yes, this is live, but he did a few (3?) takes. He is the true one take master, alot of his videos has no or very few cuts. I think it makes his performances so damn unique and raw! And yes, you are correct, he is a true performer, which probably shows that his busking background really had an impact on what kind of artist he would become. See the Jenny & Screech Trilogy for references :)
