This is the main reason why we watch other people's reactions to Ren songs, to relive those emotions that we felt when we first discovered them. It also gives a feeling of community and empathy to watch his songs powerfully touch others in the same way as it did ourselves...

Agreed. I've said it so many times.... We live our initial emotions vicariously through these reactors. We want to feel that time and time again. (We're junkies, you know.....)

The rawness of the live version makes it so much nicer to listen to them the studio version, for me. It connects in a much more authentic way.

**ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED** congratulations! You have discovered new ren friend chinchilla! She has a beautiful voice and lots of amazing music plus their live version of their song "how to be me". She is our queen 🙌🥹💜

Another wonderful reaction 👍. While this song is excellent, it’s an appetiser compared to their other duet “How To Be Me”. For a good example of Chinchilla’s range can I suggest either “1:5 (live)” or “Fingers” (live for Hunger TV).

Agreed How to be me live version and this one one my fav of the duo
@payntpot7623Ай бұрын
I concur. This is not a patch on the songs you suggest. This is OK if you have never heard the others. Chinchilla is a little behind a lot of the time in this song, which she is not in *How to be me*. I have often wondered if it was intentional?
@drum253Ай бұрын
Personally, I have it the other way around; I see how to be me and the original version of this as appetisers for this performance. Horses for courses.

You are the first reactor to pick up on Chinchilla’s inflection on ‘there’s a pill for “everything”. This shows that they are considering how to sing every word.

I’d love to hear what you think of Chinchilla “Fingers “ live for hunger tv. She shows her power in this.
@ShiroarАй бұрын
The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers. This song always reminds me that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️ If you want more emotional singing from Ren, please check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and beautiful. And very different from everything else in his catalogue.

I would really love to see your reaction to ‘For Joe’. It encapsulates the whole perfectly imperfect style of Ren (though I see and feel it more as imperfectly perfect😉) in order to capture every raw emotion. It is a live performance where Ren is playing piano and it centers around his best friend Joe, who took his own life. And there are a couple other songs that tie into Joe; ‘Su!cIde’, ‘Freckled Angels’ and ‘How to Be Me’ (another live duet with Chinchilla). They are all very emotional and extremely powerful…not to mention so important in regards to bringing “dark and taboo” subjects into the light. Wonderful reaction and vocal/performance analysis🙂

Little Easter Egg in this song. When REN opens the chair quite forcefully it’s a nod to a condition called Cherophobia or the fear of being ok.

another singer that i really enjoy for how raw and incredible his voice is jong madaliday. hes from the Philippines. he goes on omegle and sings to people which is one thing about his videos im not always the biggest fan of. but the way he puts emotion into his singing is honestly the best ive ever heard and he doesnt use any vocal effects or pitch correction and its just incredible.

Ren is my favorite dynamic, emotional terrorist 🤣and Chinchilla is a Powerhouse with incredible range. The interesting part is that both are self-taught, Ren sees chords as "shapes" on the guitar which is some savant/genius way of learning. But it creates moments that are very unique as they design it by ear rather than theory. Also, the idea of not "over rehearsing" leaves the magic in the raw intensity. Of course, they have learnt a lot of music theory on the way though. All of you online voice coaches making videos is a great resource.

I think part of Ren's artistic draw is his push back against canned, over-processed, perfect music. There's an appetite for authentic, honest human performance so it seems. His videos are brilliant companions to his music, any tiny musical imperfections become almost imperceptible by the passionate story-telling on display. He's a breath of fresh air to music.

Many versions of Blind eyed. When Ren does a "cover" of his own songs they are basically New songs. Similar as siblings or cousins, but never identical twins. My favorite includes the Angry Car Park attendant! He is immortalized as a collectable doll in Ren's Merch catalog.

I just found you for the first time with your reaction to "Chalk Outlines". I love Ren as well. I scanned back and watched your others to Ren. I particularly enjoyed your first reaction to Hi Ren. Another artist that I think you will appreciate is Ronnie Radke of Falling in Reverse. Please have a look at a couple of his Re-imagined songs, where he takes songs from earlier in his career and re-imagines them. You will appreciate the vocals (and video ). Please check out I'm Not a Vampire - Re-Vamped and the Drug in Me Re-Imagined. (to fully appreciate how much Ronnie has matured as an artist you should take a few minutes and see what the originals sounded like) He also re-imagined Papa Roach's "Last Resort". His latest one you may like as well called "Prequel" , and forgive me if you have already seen some of these as this is my first time here. I will go and have a look through your previous vids and subscribe to hopefully catch some these requests. Thank you.
