You are right, it is not a garrotte. The length, handle and type of knot are not consistent with a garrotte. The construction looks more like a toggle rope, the length of cord between the loop and handle (17 inches) is very odd if the intended purpose was strangulation.

Is it like what serial killer Anthony Allen shore used? Sorry but I honestly don’t know If it’s different can someone explain what difference is. I’m from England so don’t know how far away places are. But I actually thought that he might of been him because of the way she was killed. But they would of had his 🧬 also I don’t know how far away he was from the Ramsey house but also why I thought was him because he flew his 2 children away at same time frame i think to stay with relatives. Any thoughts? Stay safe everyone please

We need more pictures of that brush from other angles,that would reveal more angular lines indicative of whittling. There's a prison interview of john wayne gacy demonstrating his use of a garrote/tournakit knot that he used if you want an example of what that would look like, that's a type that utilizes one "stick" to twist like I think they're calling this one. Definitely agree it's ultimate use and intended purpose were separate, that or it was used for multiple purposes, and some of the knots/loops were added as the crime progressed (like to strangle her then it's changed to move her body) As someone stated below it could have been used (by burke) to move her body or something, the double loops look like it was at one point intended to wrap around two parts of one thing (arms or hands) definitely good observations, all around.

Also the size of the handle, 4.5 inches across... does this seem small for a handle a grown up might be comfortable grabbing? I am a small female my palm is around 3 inches across, if my palm were much bigger the broken pieces on either end would be digging into the sides of my hand.

Burke is autistic. He answered correctly. He knew what happened just as we know what happened. But he didn't know how it happened and wanted them to find out who killed his sister. He was 9yrs old. Everyone is trying to blame him when there were two bizarre parents who turned their little girl into a grown up doll! If that pineapple was there it wasn't a fact that it was Burke's at the crime scene. His mother's prints were on that bowl and his. He could have been eating it earlier but it was still in the bowl so no. He may have taken the bowl from the dishwasher and his mother may have used it later to lure Jonbenet downstairs which would explain why they found it in her. Why would a mother kill her little doll? Because her husband may have been discovered with a bit too much "love" for this stunning, grown up looking 6 year old. There were signs of abuse. The mother had a 'useful' book on how to murder. Another option is that the father murdered her in a panic in some sudden moment of fear that perhaps she might tell. The stick may have been the whittled one but Burke wasn't sitting whittling it to murder his sister. And what kind of expert knot was that? Not by a 9yr old! It was more like a man's knotting. Would an ex military guy be able to do a knot like that? I just don't feel it could have been Burke and if it wasn't he needs comfort and closure, not accusations. If it strangely turns out that it actually was him and he can tie brilliant knots and lie brilliantly, then he needs help.

@@Samua3John staged JonBenet. Not to cover for Patsy. But to cover for Burke. The Burke interview and quotes shows little peeks into what his brain is processing. He got the N64 and says he gets mad when his sister plays his games. The N64 is the toy he takes to the friends house that next morning. Patsy on the 911 call has Burke in the background and he says "what did you FIND"? So Burke knows they are looking for JonBenet in that moment. He is asking "did you find her?" And now his mom is calling the police. But they do not confront Burke, they send him back to his room. Burke does not go back to sleep, and when John comes back into the room he agrees to leave to "go play with a friend". He never asks why the police are there and he is spirited away. He's a potential witness. He may have heard something if there was an intruder. He might have been in danger, because at this point, the parents are projecting their daughter has been kidnapped.
@Samua3
@Samua3 18 күн бұрын
@@seeit360 I appreciate your viewpoint but I saw the interviews with the lad and he's a slip of a 9 year old with autism. My brother used to belt me with stuff or give me a dead arm etc etc. Garotting her in the basement isn't conceivable when they were taken to bed, tired, no provocation, parents still up. Plus if you found that your son had brutally murdered your daughter and popped back to bed how sane would you feel about it? They knew Burke didn't do it. He heard conversations and goings on so it wasn't odd for him to ask what they found. They covered their own wrongdoing. I would guess that John abused his daughter and Patsy discovered it and in cold calculated seething she removed the "threat" to her marriage. He would have to keep his mouth shut and so would she. Burke couldn't have empowered them to write a 3 page letter and play out a lie at that level. Even finding the little girl like that was horrific. John was over it so fast he could carry her up stairs from the basement to the detective. That's just too odd for words! And then he says "Thank god I found her!" to attempt to sound as if he didn't know her body was there! They had too much to lose if Burke was suddenly honest and said he'd killed his sister. They are not flustered at all by their son and would have been if they knew he had been the murderer. They would have been either sickened by him or nervous of him revealing their cover up.

I know it was not a garrote the moment I first saw it. It looked like a toggle rope or toggle cable. I think that people called it a garrote out of ignorance and it just kept rolling on as that. I am sure Team Ramsey wanted it called a garrote to try to bolster their intruder theory. You need to remember John was a Navy man and a yachtsman, so would know knots and have experience with various cordage. I believe he'd also been a scout. Burke was also experienced sailing and a boy scout. I bet Burke had more than one knife. One from before he got the fancier one from Switzerland and then the one his parents brought back. If I were an investigator I would have to his boy scout leader and possibly other boys in his troop to find out if they had ever created toggle ropes as part of their scouting.

Not a proper garrote but if it was used for strangulation then it becomes a garrote. Here's the Google definition. "If someone is garroted, they are killed by having something such as a piece of wire or cord pulled tightly around their neck. A garrote is a piece of wire or cord used to garrote someone." Therefore Jon Benet was garroted. And ok maybe it was made for some other purpose. Not intended for this purpose.

The Supposed garrotte looks like a homemade choker chain from the 1990s to train a small dog to go on walks. The wooden piece could be the handle so when the dog pulls the rope doesn't cut into your hand, you want it short not long because you want the dog to walk beside you not in front. As the dog pull it tightens around their neck and causes discomfort, therefore teaching it to walk with you as a pack. I'm not saying this is true and is just an option but could this have been used as a toy and something happened?

My opinion: Burke did it. Burke fixed her pineapples and tea. She may have touched him with sticky fingers. He got mad and hit her in the head. She passes out. Parents took her to the basement to set the scene. This also gave Patty time to write the note, while John staged the body. Burke was in the scouts, so he may have been taught how to tie knots.

I believe Burke again got angry with his sister for taking a sip of his drink or something she touched of his and he went into a rage of anger. Hit her so hard with the bat or flashlight and cracked her skull open. Parents heard yelling, ran downstairs and saw what Burke had done. Patsy screamed, John yelled at Burke what have you done and chased him off to bed ordering him to stay there until they told him he could come out again, which would explain why he stayed out even with the cops walking into his room and him not getting out of bed. He wasn’t curious or scared enough to run to mom or dad. And yes, I think the parents did cover up. They didn’t rush her to the hospital because they couldn’t chance losing both kids. John I believe who is an expert at quick and critical thinking hatched a plan. I think also Patsy was also afraid to go against John. So I think he ordered her to go write a ransom note as he took JonBene to the basement. There I believe he finished her off making it look like kidnappers did this to her. It was made to look like someone came in the basement window but but trying to go back out with a child in hand would be more difficult if not impossible. None of that makes sense to me because there were no foot prints in the snow. And if someone were hiding in the house the whole time, the child never made a sound? I don’t believe that. She had her head bashed in, tasters in the neck, carried out of her bedroom under the parents room they would have heard something. Then taken to the basement and duct taped, strangled and sexually attacked, yes there was proof of that. The puzzling part is how was there a mix of three different unknown DNA’s found on her clothing and where did it come from? That also makes no sense. Still much to learn on this case.

Yes everyone just breezes by Linda Arndt’s original interview statement about JBRs private areas having damage that looked like it had been occurring prior to the murder. Something was happening in that house. I don’t know who to blame. The father acts off but it could very well have been due to covering for the son and guilt/shame. Same with Patsy. I seriously cannot imagine anyone taking the risk of going all the way to her room in the night to bring her downstairs and kill her, write the note with all the risk of being caught? No way. It makes more sense that she was already downstairs for some reason with her brother or he joined her... and the parents were so far away and their room in the attic they would have no idea what they were doing. The neighbour heard a scream but they didn’t. The bottom window would have seemed closer to the neighbour than the parents on the top attic floor asleep and had it from being out and needing to leave for a holiday in the morning.... Burke said in his Dr Phil interview people should just look at the evidence as if that proves he could not have done it or his parents involved. To me that was even a cocky statement. There was not enough proof EITHER way. For or against. That’s why people keep looking into the case. His manner and attitudes are just plain odd. He SEEMS so nice and great guy superficially... but look at Chris Watts. Same thing. So, in order to cover up the abuse, and to spare the (minor) consequences on Burke, John and Patsy decided that murder was their only recourse. JMO

@@allan9603 patsy put the cleaned dishes away. That explains her prints. The fight over pineapple leaves too many loose ends as does the bed wetting and patsy whacking her. All the other bruises and abuse have to be explained as well. More like Burke shared a piece of pineapple then lured her in the basement. He would have the flashlight. Things get carried away. She screams. He panics and hits her. The parents then have something worth covering up. Its now already a sordid scene. There's abuse, etc. All of that has to come into the scenario, where the simple "hit her cause she peed the bed or took my pineapple" theory doesnt explain any other injuries.

I think Ms, Pugh might need to be looked at a little closer because through my experience if you are busy pointing fingers. I really don’t believe Burke would take the time to whittle the brush down to a stick to use it to choke his sister. He would have stuck her with it if he was interested in hurting her. The accusations toward Burke is only a smoke screen. No one talked about the age of the break on the paint brush. Seems to me the police are very slow about this case of course it has been 25 yrs. This is extremely sad.

Patsy was wearing the same clothes because she was up all night covering it up writing the note etc. Burke had previous incidents of being violent to jonbenet. I think jonbenet wet her bed. Instead of getting annoyed patsy was understanding, but got annoyed at Burke for eating his snack if pineapple. Maybe jonbenet made fun of this. Burke got annoyed, killed her. John covered it up by staging the sexual assault and strangulation with the makeshift garrotte he fashioned from the stick Burke whittled.

Don't tell us to wake up as though we are all bloody stupid, direct us to where this proven information is located. I believe Burke knew how to make it, his age seems to be his alibi even though most informed adults are aware that younger children need to do more than know how to tie a knot at that age in other less privileged countries. I'm positive that Burke would have been taught how to make it, but where is the big mystery. Was it in scouts, while sailing or what? I really want to know because I don't buy into the narrative that Burke didn't or couldn't kill her because he was ONLY 9. IMO He's got away with it and that's why he was smiling at the funeral and since. Once it is found out he will go down as the kid who got away with murder. Also, I think someone in the Police department (or likely higher) are personal friends of the Ramsey's which is why Boulder police refused to accept help from various reputable sources, because they probably have something on him and their lawyer knew it and used it to help blunder it up and refrain from doing further DNA testing for so many years. In addition to not allowing more qualified specialists getting involved to assist with carious details such as the hand writing on their own dollar! No, the parents probably didn't kill their daughter, but I believe Patsy did write that letter, probably know his brother had left or at least used the paint brush inside JonBenet (during Dr's & Nurses or to hurt/humiliate her), and both parents staged it to look like a rape gone wrong or intruder, but the brother did it IMO and the only people who would defend him are his parents, which is why they needed so much time before speaking to the Police to get prepped with all the facts and what they were going to say when questioned, get their stories straight when separated and with the killer, who gave himself away when he said he *knows* how she was killed. There is no way that a parent would tell the brother she had her head caved in when it wasn't even evident when looking at her so why would he say it? More importantly why did the investigators not think it was odd he's idea was very close to what actually took place, and why did they not consider him a suspect because he was 9? 9-year-olds are smarter, stronger and think more than parents seem to think, and jealous ones can be very violent. My opinion, based on the facts presented from various sources - If it's correct what a burden it is on John to carry to his grave.

Burke’s responses and flat effect In his childhood interviews always struck me as interesting. And maybe a problem. He obviously is extremely intelligent, but his manner even as a young boy strikes me as a young many with some confused thoughts and emotions happening inside that he cannot or does not express, and his adult interview although he seems to have turned out like nice young man, is also just hard to read. I’m not sure I agree with Dr Phil’s explanation that is was nerves and the topic. There is something deeper there with him psychologically that is not reached. He could have just been doing what he saw in a movie, could have been a game gone wrong, or bit of both. Kids can easily get up to all sorts if they are not monitored. And also if they are allowed to watch things on movies or tv that they are intelligent to remember and take in but emotionally can’t process or understand consequences... they can easily act out. In his childhood videos he reminds me of some of the children have seen with serious psychological issues but I would think he is extremely smart... and even at a young age could hide his emotions or some emotions are even stunted. The upbringing he had, and his intelligence, and perhaps a lack of emotional connection to his parents and also lack of discipline and understanding... could have impacted him far more than his parents realised. Money and gifts cannot buy time love and affection. These parents were not bad people, they just never saw it coming.... if they did realise they either could not accept it as a possibility and didn’t even Question their son about it but act as though that is an impossibility... or actively covered for him .

I don't believe Burke did it. There is no way the Ramseys would let him go to the White's house that morning if he had killed his sister hours before. I struggle with the thought that Burke did it because 9 year old children are very tired Christmas night after waking up early in the morning. I think there's 3 theories that work for me.. i think someone in the house did it. She had a gash on her head, and she was strangled and sexually abused. Cause of death was strangulation. Her head did not burst open with blood when hit, so that's evidence that she was being strangled first before she was hit. Or the theory is that she was hit before she was strangled.. and passed out and they thought she was dead and the strangulation was the staging of the murder, but it actually is what killed her. Nothing quite fits together perfectly in this crime, so that's what makes it so intriguing.. it's like 2 truths and a lie, and we have to figure what the lie is. If she was hit first before strangulation, that means either Patsy or Burke did it. If she was hit after strangulation, I think that points to John. There's a terrible perverse reason for that.. namely a sexual fetish while S.Abusing her.

This theory claims that the marks were made by jabbing the end to the toy train tracks into JonBenet hard enough to cause small bruises. When the housekeeper confiscated the knife, did she physically take it away from Burke's hands or did she surreptitiously take it and then hide it? In other words, was Burke aware that the knife had been taken from him by her? Also, is it possible to forensically determine when the "garrote" had been constructed, i.e. when the wood had been whittled away to make the indentations? Sometimes you have to come to your own conclusion, the authorities sometimes cannot, or will not, say what the probably already know to be the truth...

The problem I have with the "Burke did it" crowd, including the author of this podcast, is if it was Burke, why the need for the elaborate international intruder gang ransom, loose tying up, fake strangulation, murder, coverup by the parents? First of all, the parents were well educated, the mom was a massive how-to-get-away-with-murder afficianado based on her extensive library of books so they both would have definitely known that a 9 year old would have literally 0% chance of going to prison or being held responsible for even a deliberate act of killing his sister. Secondly, even if they did decide they couldn't let anyone know Burke had intentionally killed his sister, they could have EASILY just played it off with a simple story of the two kids were playing and Burke accidentally hit her with a bat while he was spinning around or they were playing ball and he was clumsy or whatever. This would have easily been believed by the police as everyone knows how clumsy and careless kids are. So again, why the need for an elaborate kidnapping 3 page international gang ransom note, tying up, fake strangulation, and so forth. Surely they would have known that would have gained FAR MORE scrutiny from not just the police but the FBI, than a simple kids were playing and she was accidentally killed. Remember they had 6 hours to figure this out so one can't just blame this on a last minute panic. We know the mom was literally up all night covering this up since she was still wearing her previous day's clothes and makeup and spend at least an hour on the war and peace note. The only explanation that makes sense is that one of the adults (most likely the mom) did it, in which case there would have been the need for a coverup to avoid prison for said adult.

Then after not hearing her come upstairs he went back to the basement to see if she was still there. Thats when he used the flashlight to heat up his train pegs and stuck them against her skin to see if shed move.

TCRS, in answer to your question, the garrote reminds me of an implement (i have seen made and used) to pull start the motor on both a lawn mower and a chainsaw ; made as a makeshift replacement after the devices' original pull start wore out. similarly, it also reminds me of the old fashioned homemade spinning top, as demonstrated in this link > kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKbCamWiZZqSZpY

Davon, i agree, but not everyone has either the time nor a spare $5 on the spot, and my response (which did include the term "makeshift") was in answer to the question asked. someone else here suggested an artist's plumb line, which is also a very interesting possibility. there is of course no doubt that the implement was used to strangle jonbenet, and imo, it was most likely constructed to do just that. in further response to your comment, it is my belief that jonbenét AND the 3 to have been accused DID know the person responsible, but in saying that, they did not cover for that person who. imo, was known to them, trusted by them, and was someone they would never have suspected. i also believe those remaining would still be in total disbelief if the truth was ever to come to light.

i can't be certain that there was NO coverup of another individual's "presence" on the premises, but my heart is 100% certain that - had that been the case - it was someone known to either or both the parents, and who had been observed to demonstrate only a healthy, nurturing relationship with the children ; someone who was, wrongly, both trusted implicitly, and thought to be beyond reproach. my views, in part, are visionary, and i apologise for being unable to explain in greater depth.

This makes a lot of sense, Burke could of made this at some other time before the murder. I google rope and toggle and it looks just like what was made to choke JonBenet. Also Burke did not clean up after himself, so he could of just made it and thrown it anywhere. It looks like Burke spent time down the basement playing, his trains were down there. Still that still means Patsy could of strangled her in the basement using anything that was available. This just might be a crime of anger, Burke could of hit her with something and Patsy strangled her with what was available.

Burke was a Boy Scout right? So he had to learn knots of all sorts and he had to learn to whittle certain shapes, as well as learn to make tourniquet and do basic first aide. There are tons of other reasons a kid would learn these things particularly when his father was stationed at a navy base. That could have been guy bonding skills or a way to stim that he was taught- a self soothing technique. Depending on who helped with scouts the mom could have known them as well. I learned some of that stuff with my dad and then helped my oldest son in scouts meeting those required skills lessons.

Alright well, let's ask one more question....If you are a Mother and you have two children at home, one has been murdered, and the other....???? Would you want to lose both children in one night, so you might be willing to cover up something....Also, why was Burke hustled off so fast to a neighbor's house....???? These questions are just a few to be pondered.

The floating dot in “Mr• Ramsey” at the start of the ransom note copies the 1984 “Dot” on the “Dr Pepper•” on the logo .. For “Dr Pepper•” marketing always had the problem of the “•” was mistaken as an “L” and at one time in the 50’s completely eliminated. Patsy Ramsey used to work for Coca Cola .. A “Major Competitor” of “Dr Pepper•” .. Patsy Ramsey was on the front cover of April 1996 “Women’s Magazine” .. There’s a large stack of April 1996 “Women’s Magazine” in the basement on the bureau. A can of “Dr Pepper•” was in Burke’s train room in front of the movie poster “Death on the Nile” & another “Dr Pepper•” was at Michael Helgoth’s staged suicide.
