Thank you nick it's good that this horse is being cared of this way as I remember a simalar occasion when I was an athlete doing P E at school I was vertically unbeatable when on an odd occasion I became lame believe me it was heartbreaking for me to pull myself up but this is most definitely the right thing to do as his record is flawless

Henderson hadnt a care in the world yesterday when interviewed yesterday. Now it's transpired that Constitution Hill has been lame for 48 hours. Why did the exchange market react before the announcement was made? And why are trainers sponsored or in any way connected with Bookmakers?

Just seen this today Monday! CH was weeks off running in a Grade 1 when he galloped at Newbury with Sir Gino. There was no way he could have given his running in the Fighting Fifth even without another setback.

I happen to think he's an honest guy I'd go as far as saying a gentleman but the horse clearly has a problem and I'd go back to last year when he said he worked terrible and then we didn't see him again, what a shame his supreme and champion wins, of the charts

@@deniswallace-vp9tb this 'honest ' guy was found guilty by the BHA of doping one of the Queens horses with cyklokapron, an anti bleed drug, in 2009, and banned from entering his horses anywhere for three months. Not nice OR honest !

@@deniswallace-vp9tb I appreciate your opinion and maybe there hasn't been anything noted since then, but l worked for three years in a racing yard and there is a lot more going on within the 'industry' that is not public. He received a £40,000 fine too, which showed seriously the BHA took the offence. I tend to doubt the integrity of anyone that would do that.

@deniswallace-vp9tb That's why l left after those three years.l love NH racing, l ride x-country myself, and l can't stand animal cruelty either, dogs, horses, anything. I'm surprised they're managing to race at Haydock today with this storm we're experiencing, although the horses seem to be getting through it okay, miserable conditions for horse and jockey.

Buckley must be privately furious. When the horse was fit and well they very rarely ran him, now he is a sicknote there is no discernible difference.

Con Hill has had problems for a while, that’s why he wasn’t seen for much of last season. This notion that Hendo suddenly woke up and decided he didn’t want to run his best horse is laughable.

The blame lies entirely on Micahel Buckley. He should have removed the horse from Nicky's stable long time ago and given it to either Nichols or young trainers like James Ownen.

I said earlier this year that the fact that Constitution Hill missed all of 2024 with various health problems, he will never recapture the brilliance he showed us all in 2023. This recent problem with lameness isn't good and it's beginning to look like he may be at the end of his racing career. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear the worst.

I’d have sent the horse to Paul Nicholls after his first Champion hurdle victory. Henderson , as great as he is, doesn’t seem to be able to keep his very best horses sound for long enough to fulfil their potential. It keeps happening. Don’t expect to see Constitution Hill anywhere near as good before he’s inevitably retired after a handful of sub par blowouts. So frustrating.

@ yeah, to be fair,, he was 9 when the cracks appeared. Had wind surgery and couldn’t recapture its best. Still seemed premature though. And some sort of lameness occurred that triggered the end….

Willie mullins has top class horses that get problems so does Gordon Elliot so does Paul Nichols so does every big trainer ! In fact every year I can almost guarantee that I’ll read at least 1 or 2 articles on the racing post about a top class Mullins horse that’s missing the season due to a setback. And when that happens no one says a word it’s just accepted as bad luck. But when Henderson has a top horse that gets a problem everyone loses their minds 🤣 the only difference is that Mullins has that much depth of talent in his yard it doesn’t matter if a couple of good horses miss the season because he’s got another 4 or 5 to take their place and they go and win the big grade 1s anyway. So why’s it okay for other trainers horses to have setbacks but when Henderson horses do the angry mob comes baying for his blood ?

@ You’ve just answered your own question; it’s because Mullins has so many top class horses, nobody notices. Henderson has much smaller pool, so you’d expect him to have better ‘luck’ with his exceptional horses. I’m completely objective. I love listening to him talk about horses. I’ve just made an innocent observation. Maybe there’s a bit of frustration in there on my half, but it’s an observation nonetheless

Why can't we all admit that this man is corrupt as hell. Has been showing contempt for punters for decades. Everybody and his mother could see there was an issue with his gallop at Newbury, but he was very positive about it. Rather than tell punters to hold fire before lumping on him he was adamant there was no issue. Guarantee that punters saw value in his price and lumped on. What a disgrace!

I think people are often OTT in their condemnation of Nicky, but on this occasion I have to agree with some of the jibes. It cannot be a coincidence that yard seems to have such an issue keeping the real good ones fit. There is such a thing as being too precious with a horse and I think there lies the problem at Seven Barrows. It’s why we rarely see his stars progress over hurdles onto becoming chasers in the Gold cup sphere, they’re just not hardy enough. For Nicky Henderson to have only two gold cups to his name given what’s come through the door is quite eye opening.

Probably best to retire this horse before something unfortunate happens. Doesn’t seem to be able to stand up to the rigours of training/ racing. Unless maybe a new training regime, probably with a different trainer could be tried beforehand.

How can a horse run if lame beforehand. Nicky said horse never took a lame step in his Life.His gallop at Newbury was poor to say the least, Sir gino good horse but won't win any champion hurdle.Hey uno I know some horses pull out lame most mornings and there fine once loosen up.The problem is likely a pulled muscle in he's back. And I'm Know vet.maybe the ground. But I'm not hopeful. Nicky should wait a day or 3 to disclose that information. It's severs Know purpose.?
