One of the first players I ever loved, an absolute city legend, every time I ever saved a penalty down the park I would do the weaver celebration

Fantastic story teller, great character and as a 49 year-old City fan, one of the boys of 99, who kept the club in business at its darkest point. Brilliant.
@weSnooker3 жыл бұрын
That’s why the 99 final will always be bigger then aguero moment for me, because the clubs future was at stake. Of course aguero moment was bigger to give united a big middle finger

Nicky Weaver and the boys from back then are just as much heroes as the greats of today I remember a match at home to Ipswich (the season after the Wembley play off), Weaves was unbeatable..... save after save made, right at the death he made save on the line at the far post - 5 Ipswich players sank to their knees. They knew Nicky Weaver wouldnt be beaten, one of the best goalkeeping performances I've ever seen. City won 1-0.

As a 9 year old, I was one of the fans that left wembley. My auntie dragged us all out, fuming. As soon as we heard the second roar we all ran back up the stairs like something out of rocky(never seen so many steps) nicky became a hero of ours, top bloke. Still cant watch that match without tears in my eyes

Nicky Weaver is brilliant. Great sense of humour. Much more funnier than the usual pundits on TV. A never ending supply of funny stories. He should write a book. Might be a little repetitive because he's always saying the guys he's talking about is a lovely guy but.... Like Ben Thatcher lovely lad but he'll shit in your boots or piss down your leg at the drop of a hat.

I was 5 years old on play off final and I remember we left my grandads at 2-0 only he had sky, got home put radio on and realised it was 2/2, so ran back up to my grandads and the rest is history.

Great stories from Nicky, remember that 99 final was a better comeback than United's as 2 down going into injury time. A team full of characters Horlock, Dickov, Dunne, Bishop. I always thought Issakson was a good goalie shame he had injuries at City.

I'm a Charlton fan and someone I used to work with worked at Charlton during those 2000s Premier League years - I've heard some stories about Thomas too - he used to give people dogs abuse - all in good fun, but you'd dread seeing him sometimes apparently lol

Get him and Andy Johnson on for part 2 those are 2 of my favourites along with Clark Carlisle, Kevin Campbell, Deano, Luke Chadwick, Ryan cresswell, Matthew Kilgallon and Mark Crossley, Paul McKenna.

Kept us up after Sammy Lee mismanagement, and the decisions that went vs us in our 2nd season, penalties, offside goals, we had no chance. I liked megson. He was the best manager we've had since big Sam
