Wow, a realy good site to learn Thai, I have tried many others, and they are too fast, too long phrases, too expensive. This is great and am getting my head down to stick with this great learning video. I am manually writing down every word or phrase to get it in to my thick skull, but it would be nice to be able to print the contents of this excellent video. John Hancock

I like it. The R is pronounced L in some parts of Thailand but it should be pronounced R (more correct version) in a video like this.

You do not need to add 'nee' when you say yesterday, last week or last year. The majority of Thais don't use it. For the word yesterday they say: 'meuua wan', it can be used but it's a wasted word. Nee means 'this' in Thai. I think this video is great BTW :) I like that the Thai speaker speaks slowly and clearly. Most Thai language videos the Thai speakers speak way too fast.

I learn Thai Language in Hua Hin with the help of a private Teacher. Currently learning the tonerules. After 1 month doing so, I compared the 14 first words from this video with the pronounciation I was taught in school. We use Becker-Tonrules Result: 6 of the 14 solutions are conform, more then half is not conform. Which is little confusing. Would like to find out where the huge difference is coming from. Whats the source of tonerules in this video? Thank you

Problem in this video is pronunciation. First: The English is strongly American, sometimes with such an exaggerated accent that this Aussie can't understand it, must be difficult for Thai listeners. Second: the Thai has some odd accents with vowels, but worst is the very clear "L" pronunciation of the letter for "R" - in every instance (ล instead of ร) . This is common in some areas of Thailand, but given this is a lesson, one might expect correct pronunciation.
@brianheard45655 жыл бұрын
@CAVEMAN CRAZED ha ha. American english is a language of it's own, but having seen US films etc for many years I can usually interpret it. 😀😀. But as for Thai, with their different languages from top to bottom, it's difficult enough. But when they mispronounce it as well, as a learner, that makes it doubly difficult!
@chickennuggies87255 жыл бұрын
thai people usually pronounce the ร with a ล, so i think that the pronunciation in the video is alright, as it gets u used to it
@ooyolesen81865 жыл бұрын
I think so.

I’ve heard most Thais pronounce r’s with l’s and vice versa.
