Given that there is a gap between Han's adventures between SOLO and A New Hope and not to mention the 30 year gap from Return of the Jedi to Force Awaken's you never know who Han may have encountered along the way. not to mention with the Unknown Regions or far frontier of SW space being the setting for The Mandalorian and set to a Space Western theme there is a good possibility of the guy still waltzing around.

I believe that the best smugglers have to be force sensitive. Nico, and Han, seems to have a prescient ability to make impossible shots and have amazing piloting ability. Their skills rival many a Jedi in pure survivability. Mainly, they just write it off as luck and coincidence.
