Dary Grasso Quintet: "Down with it"(Bud powell).

These cats did their homework and got more than just a bunch of licks and some nice chops digging into Bud Powell and Charlie Parker. They've got some of the spirit of the "bebop" masters. Nicely done...too many young musicians today are playing from the "right brain", the logical, thinking mind, not the right creative emotional side. Both Grasso brothers (Pasquale - guitarist) are dynamite!! They are the rarer, smaller group of musicians carrying on the flame Bird and Bud gave to the world a few generations back. Luigi has been the first alto player who has truly impressed me in a very long time. Ehud is someone who's piano playing I've always appreciated. We last played together when we both sat in on Bob Mover's gig a couple years ago in NYC.
