We visited Scotland for the first time, a few years ago. Saw our first EV charger at Aviemore, and wondered what it was. A PHEV was anchored to it for the six hours or so during which we parked our car near to it. (The Frankencar was not a good advert to us for EV's, because it appeared as though it would take all day to charge one up.) Nonetheless, Scotland is responsible for my growing interest in EV's. It's a beautiful place, but we don't like the tourist traps so much. It's much better when seen from the back roads, and on foot.

Hi, Nick. I am intending to do a trip in my 2015 Zoe Intens from Hertfordshire to Norfolk (approx 125 miles one way), and I was absolutely shocked to see the scarcity of public chargers in the North Norfolk area. Do you have any suggestions as to what to do? Anybody have knowledge of reliable public chargers in North Norfolk - Cromer, Sheringham, Wells?
@NicolasRaimo5 жыл бұрын
There's a tesla destination charger here www.plugshare.com/location/98753 which your zoe can use, There's also one a nation trust. There are a couple more dotted around and a massive cluster at Norwich. Please ensure your subscribed to my channel then check out video i did about various apps, there some great route planning apps that might help you.

European guy here. I want to get my hand onto an electric car until 2020. (around 20k $) What should I look out for?? I kinda want this Model 3 so bad 😌
@NicolasRaimo6 жыл бұрын
Hey welcome to my channel don't forget to click subscribe! For that money take a look at a Renault Zoe you should be able to pick up a 40kwh battery for that price now easily for that kind of money. I've got a video about the tesla model 3 i went to see 2 weeks ago coming out Saturday. I suspect you won't see one for under 40,000 Euros for least 2 years

Hi Nicolas i am thinking of a buying a new Zoe but do a 240 mile trip (480 return) every 6 weeks or so (long weekend). I figured at 4mile per kWh I would approximately get 80-90 miles per hour of 22kw charging? How fast were you driving at?
@NicolasRaimo6 жыл бұрын
Depending on the weather conditions zoe mpkwh can range hugely in the winter zoe preforms awful in the summer is very very high. Speed for trip was between 55 and 60 mph When Dean took over it was between 55-65mph

How long it takes u? And how many stops did u make? How long did u charge. It?
@NicolasRaimo6 жыл бұрын
We Stopped twice on the trip, for 40 minutes first stop and a full 45 for the 2nd stop drove rather eco on the trip took 6 hours in total which is about an hour and a half longer if we did the trip NON stop without any breaks, we'd of saved about 30 minutes i reckon if we did it in a Q Zoe

Oh Nick, you cheated. You drove to Burton-in-kendal before changing drivers to get your higher miles per kWh figure. You didn't do the killer leg through Cumbria or the long drag up the M74 which only ends when you get past Lesmahagow 😀 Seriously though, your comment about the R and Q motors was interesting. I drive the Q90 and even in winter can still do a 2-stopper between Derby and Barrhead....just. That's 290 miles for me and the battery is just about warm enough and low enough to get 25kwh in 45 minutes. All this said, in my now 18k miles of doing these long trips in my Q90 I can say that it is not air temperature or the rain that is the killer on mpkwh.....it's the speed of the wind. If driving into a headwind then you have to surf a truck or coach as the Zoe is not great aerodynamically. If you have a tail wind you can overtake them and still get a good 3.5+ mpkwh with the speed limiter set at 65 mph.
@NicolasRaimo6 жыл бұрын
haha ssssshhhh ;) to be fair soon as Dean drove the car the mpkwh dropped like a STONE. I drove his Model X home from the zappi meeting and kicked his mpkwh in that as well. Trick with the Q Motor Renault Zoe is drive it HARD before the charger get it to purple mode lots of heat in the battery and your get higher charging speeds faster and for longer!

Wasn't that far to be honest I've done longer trips in 22kwh Zoe more the fact it was in a 22kw charging R model

Nicolas Raimo how long do they take to charge, I guess being on the small side they don’t take as long?
@NicolasRaimo6 жыл бұрын
well the charging on Q model is 43kw and the charging rate on a R is 22kw the battery is 22kwh in size so technically speaking it takes an hour on a 43kw charger in a R but half that time charging a Q on a 43kwh charger however due to other factors the times don't work out like that due to loss factors and the charge rate stepping down at high SOC
@eviain6 жыл бұрын
Nicolas Raimo that’s what I thought we just got a Z.E. 40 which is a couple of hours or so at 22kw. Didn’t buy it for long drives really but have been so impressed with it that we’re probably going to use it way more! Put a road trip video about it on my channel, is it possible to own an EV with out starting a channel! :)
