Seeing Moulin Rouge on the big screen back then overwhelmed the senses. I was in college when I saw it, and loved the chemistry of Nicole and Ewan. I was obsessed with this movie and still have it on DVD. I bought the two soundtrack CDs as well. So happy to see this video.

I wish I had seen it on the big screen. Moulin Rouge is one of the few films that are simply made for cinema only but I was only 8 I when it came out.

I am watching MR now. During the poetry reading scene in the elephant, when he starts reciting the words to Your Song and she goes all maniacal with her "Yes! Yes!" you can see there when he slips into a very subtle smile a couple times. Like Nicole said, she did some improv work and he wasn't expecting it. But he kept it together both times and went on till he broke out in song.

My sister and I were in our late teens when it came out. We had never seen the movie but had the soundtrack for some reason and knew all the music word for word. I only just watched it a few years ago. I just never thought I'd actually like it much even though I loved the music. It was so cool to finally see the movie behind the music and it became one of my favourite movies.

I remember telling my mum I loved this movie at five years old, not knowing what it was about and she loved that I loved it cos it was one of her favourites. I found out in drama class in my fourth year of high school (15-16 year old) what it actually meant after all those years and it is still one of my faves! That's how I came to love Ewan McGregor at five years old! Classic for me :3

I took care of a little lady in a nursing home and would bring her movies. One night I asked her if she wanted me to bring any back any movies for her after my days off. She asked for the movie with 'that boy'. I thought she meant like Harry Potter or Star Wars so I pointed to the little boys on the dvd cases. She clarified and asked for "that boy that sings". Moulin Rouge is one of those films whose significance didn't seem that big upon its release. But with passage of time its stock has only increased. Perhaps its format was ahead of its time and people couldn't get the hang of it. Now the film seems revolutionary in retrospect. If the film was released now it would sweep the Oscars.
