Halina Reijn (Babygirl, 2024) 4. Vicky Jenson (Spellbound, 2024) 5. Mimi Cave (Holland, Michigan, TBA) TV: 6. Jane Campion (Top of the Lake: China Girl, 2017) 7. Andrea Arnold (Big Little Lies, Season 2, 2019) 8. Susanne Bier (The Undoing, 2020), (The Perfect Couple, 2024) 9. Kim Gehrig (Roar, 2022) 10. Lulu Wang (Expats, 2024) 11. So many of these comments exemplify what is so toxic about the internet. Here is a video where a woman is being commended for her support of other women. Yet people - hiding behind a screen, of course - feel it's more important to share their opinions about her face. How many of those commentors do you bit are women themselves?

she's not working with them "just" because they are female directors. of course she's seeking out good talent, she'll have to work with them at the end of the day, why should she choose anyone less than competent? also she's not refusing to work with male directors or anything. she tries to give women in the industry a leg up by putting a certain quota, because it's a male-dominated industry, surely that's not news to you? the fact that successful female directors get fewer chances than their male counterparts?
