Without distrdpecting the British what she meant was the IDA audience is louder and more boisterous and a little bit rowdy which is very factual . I was in both London and NY C and there is really a difference in the noise decibel and the whooping cheering and dancing !! So yes she knew there were standing ovations midshow in both venues but the NYC audience was definitely louder and wilder !!!

I think I get what she means as I have experienced both. Americans are louder literally throughout the show which was a shock as it was westend shows I experienced first. Then I realised it's cultural differences as Americans are generally loud compared to the British. She is an American so I am guessing she experienced broadway first and westend was the shocker for her while Europeans will feel different

I was referencing her statement of being a theatre lover from childhood she must have seen many Broadway shows then as a kid. West end will be what she sees and acts in later which still means she experienced Broadway first and may have thought that would be westend but obviously Europeans are different from Americans. Since she is now in Broadway their shouting must bring nostalgia of what she is more used to theatre being. While me being from west end and experiencing it first makes me relate more to how we react than how Americans react in theatre. I get distracted on Broadway while Broadway stars and Americans feel that is normal energy

Having seen the original production in London with Patti Lupone I really don't have any interest in seeing this stripped down version. I'm sure she's great but all black costumes and no set is not my idea of a classic old Hollywood story.
