i literally did this. i graduated early at 19 so no one wanted to hire me for work. applications were hard so when i landed my first contractual job after a year, i saved all my money then traveled as soon as the contract ended. i also took odd jobs i between for the sake of experience. i only went back job hunting when i turned 22, when most students have already graduated. back then, most people thought i wasted those 2 years and i could have been in the top management earlier. well, yeah, but 28 years old as a project manager in oil and gas is already a huge thing for me. getting lost, losing money and budgeting it, working odd jobs dealing with people in different walks of life propelled me to get that role faster. hypothetically i could get it earlier as people told me but i doubt i would have the skills i got from my adventures to lead people better. actually, my parents wanted me to become a lawyer to replace them when they retire. but working outside and seeing the country as it is made me not pursue that path. i could only imagine my dreaded life had i continued it. i would advice the same to my kids if i ever will have any. i'm in my 30's now and i have my consulting firm. i will never trade that experience for anything else as it built me to who i am now. PS: to be fair, i was able to do this because my family is well off so my money was mine. but i got an earful dor my so-called "uncalculated risks". for those who do not have the same privileges as i have, you can do it too with proper financial planning once you've got the basics taken cared off and you have extra savings already. some of my friends did. it doesn't matter when you do it for as long as you're able to do it.

Its ok to fail at a young age, explore and dont pressure your selves,, you have the best advantage - youth. Be a jack of all trades but not a master of none - its still best than a being a master of one.

Great series po ate, but not every good companies do well with fresh grad na hindi galing sa prestigious schools. Hard reality for the many. Maybe we need perspective from people na galing sa state universities soon?

Siguro privilege is created by those who are smart enough to create it. That's the beauty of Capitalism.
