We made it to Kolkata and started off our time in the city by stuffing our faces full of Indian food! We were so excited to try West Bengali food and get a sense of how it is the same and different from the food we have tried in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Varanasi. We did this food tour with a company called A Chef's Tour and honestly could not recommend them more!

Or, if you want to book a food tour in Delhi with this amazing company, click here: tinyurl.com/5dsvjxdf
Our guide, Avik, was AMAZING. Seriously, this guy has to be the best food tour guide in Kolkata. He started off this West Bengali food tour by taking us to the famous Golbari restaurant to try mutton kosha which turned out to be a favourite for the evening! We also really enjoyed trying pushka, which we had previously tried in Delhi but over there they called it pani puri (if you haven't seen our Delhi food vlog, click here: • Is Street Food in Delh... ). We loved trying lassi, dalmoth, onion fritters, and Indian fish and chips, but possibly our favourite foods to try were all the Kolkata sweets! We could have stood around all night trying different West Bengali sweets.
In addition to the food, we loved exploring Kolkata for the first time as we ate and ate and ate! We learned how to ride the metro in Kolkata, took a human powered rickshaw, and the highlight of the evening was definitely taking the local bus in Kolkata! We were so glad to have Avik with us for this as there is no way we would have known what to do on our own. Although we both thought that bus ride might be the last thing we ever do in this life, we loved every minute of it!
Thank you Avik and A Chef's Tour for another awesome Indian food tour. For anyone wanting to try this tour out themselves, click here: www.google.com/url?q=...

How come from Varanasi to Kolkata? what made you choose Kolkata as a priority instead of choosing Kerala or goa or Himalayas? I am asking this because you made a right decision. Kolkata is a hidden gem. Its considered as cultural capital of India. Glad you guys went there.

Kolkata is generally missed by people and they don’t advertise it too much either. If you looking for Eat, Pray , love then Kolkata does exactly that !!!It’s so rich in culture and Art and architecture, Music and most importantly the art of living with Passion. Bengal is place of intellectuals ! You have to dig deeper and you’d amaze yourself with the joy of life.Kolkata Is known as the city of joy ! And food oh that’s just the overly of everything and to top it all the sweets 🍭! Bhalo Theko Kolkata ❤

@@DRAGON_BBX Arsalan is the OG. Dada Boudi is a little inclined towards Hyderabadi style when it comes to spices. They also don't put crunchy birista, its half fried and has less texture compared to Zam Zam and Arsalan. Also, I recommend Zam Zam specifically for beef. Both are exact copies how it's cooked in muslim households of Kolkata. Dada Boudi on the other hand is commercial.
@DRAGON_BBX

@@harismuz1 I'm a Bangali, i don't consume Beef. Hyderabadi Biriyani is Gross. literally. It tastes more like raw garam masala rather than Biriyani. I had Arsalan, many times, it didn't hit the spot. I will try the Zam Zam tho. The best Biriyani i had was Royal Biriyani.
@harismuz1
@harismuz1 Жыл бұрын
@@DRAGON_BBX royal biryani of Zakaria street is Hyderabadi lite version. See there are multiple types. You might've tried kacchi biryani. Try the biryani wherein cooked meat is amalgamated along with rice using dum. You'll like that kind of hyderabadi biryani. It would taste like kolkata biryani without aloo but a spicier version. When going to Zam Zam try beef biryani at the older outlet in Entally. It's exactly how it's cooked in our homes. Basically biryani of urdu speaking muslims of Kolkata. The authentic one.

Avik made your experience a win-win one. You actually visited the oldest eateries, which nowadays are tough to find in any other city amidst so many cafes, and state of the art restaurants. You experienced the most vintage tastes of Bengali-food items. However, I would still recommend you to try Kolkata special mutton Biryani at Dada Boudi Restaurant (barrackpore)/Aminia/ Arsalan (park circus), and also have Bengali lunch at Bhajahari Manna/any other standard restaurant serving Bengali Cuisine, next time you visit our city. Thanks for visiting the city and enjoying your experience.

Excellent! I wish you had tried the Kolkata Biriyani. It's quite different from the North Indian and South Indian Biryani. You should have tried it from Dada Boudi Biryani in Kolkata - which is a famous biryani chain in Kolkata.
