Nice vid... just a note... is not safe to swim in Playa Brava due to the strong tide, in fact tourists had drown there (u probably didn't notice, but allways was a red flag waving in the beach)... I tecomend to visit and enjoy Playa Brava, but no to swim on it.

We just drove from Atlanta to Nevada a few months ago, and you're right - Utah was just unreal in how beautiful it was. I'm sorry you missed Capitol Reef and Escalante Staircase - if you drive back up, I highly recommend both - they were so gorgeous! And you're right about the maps just not being helpful to dog -owners... We're finishing up a quick jaunt to South America and will be crossing the Pacific to Asia soon (gap 1-2yr) - your videos have been really helpful!

Lots of comments about Merino being great. I’d appreciate hearing (ok reading) specific brand recommendations as not all Merino is equal. I know about Smartwool and Icebreaker … any others that you feel are first rate for quality and customer service?

Hey! In the past year we've discovered a brand called Wool& (women) and Wool&Prince (men) that we have fallen in love with. Their quality is top notch and customer service has been amazing. They have a stellar facebook group that is really active and community driven which I (Nicole) have found really useful for choosing the right size and outfit combos. Their focus is everyday merino wear as opposed to the technical clothes sold by Icebreaker which has opened a whole new world for us. I feel like I'm jabbering on, but we really have come to love them and I'm excited that we have a merino company we like so much! We have affiliate links in case you find some clothes you love and want to support us while you're at it :) Wool&: shrsl.com/4jg29 Wool&Prince: shrsl.com/4jg2a

Thank you for your VERY useful videos. Can I ask about security bags, like the ones worn under clothes. Do you have any experience with those at all? We're going carry on, 30 days.
@nicoleandmico
@nicoleandmico 3 күн бұрын
So glad you're finding the video(s) helpful! We don't use any money belts or security bags under our clothes. I (Nicole) did that for a few months when I took my first "big" trips as an adult, and quickly found that they brought more attention instead of less. I often got the feeling that pulling money out of the belt to pay for things made it look like I was carrying enough money to be worth hiding. Our strategy instead has been to blend in as best as possible, and never carry more money/cards than necessary whenever we leave our accommodation. Maybe you've already seen it, but in case you haven't come across it yet, we recently made a whole video on how we deal with money while traveling. In case you'd find that useful, I'll leave the link here :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4TdpIeOftODg6Msi=LumczlytHy061Np4

@@nicoleandmico Thank you, that makes total sense. I haven't watched that one yet, planning on settling down tomorrow for a MASSIVE binge on your channel. And make a lot notes! And also make a list. Your channel is so comprehensive that I don't feel we need to go anywhere else, because what you guys do not know about packing - cannot be known! On the subject of marino - I had one black marino t-shirt that lasted YEARS and YEARS, but unfortunately it finally went beyond gardening wear and had to depart. I definitely will consider two new ones for this trip. Thank you again and I hope you're enjoying your current travels.

Having done a couple road trips through Canada and the US, I think having some plan is really helpful... I look back on my route and I'm a little sad about the things I missed out on - parks I didn't go to, cities I didn't stop in, friends I didn't take the detour to meet up with. That road trip taught me that it's fantastic to be spontaneous, but having a little bit of a baseline plan (that I'm completely willing to depart from) helps me make the most of the time I spend. Excited to see the next video!
@nicoleandmico
@nicoleandmico 3 күн бұрын
You're totally right, we wish we'd had the time to plan the US road trip part of this adventure a little better. Something we learned along the way that we didn't expect was how much the dog restricted our activities camping and being in National Parks. Had we done the research on this sooner, I think we could have come up with a few cool ideas that allowed for the dog, which we missed out on this time around. The good news is at some point, we'll likely have to travel all the way back through the USA to get the car back to Canada, so maybe we'll have a good chance at a do-over!

We live outside of Nashville, TN and travel with our 4 children. 2 years ago we did a 10 day road trip of the old Route 66 (I40) to the Grand Canyon and back with our 4 kids. Last year, we did a 15 day road trip from to Idaho (I90) and back (I80) visiting 11 states and Badlands, Black Forrest, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, UT Salt Flats, Rocky Mountains, and more National Parks. Did you eat at the old Brothel in Williams? When coming back north, send me a message for ideas. Our next trip will be out to southern UT and back. Because we travel with kids, we stop and sight see every 3-4 hours. It requires lots of planning on my part but is so worth it because the US has so much to offer and especially for tight budget purposes.

Try driving on the state and county highways/roadways vs expressways then you'd travel through small towns and find mom/pop style diners with better prices.

That sounds so lovely! I suppose it takes longer that way, but if we had more time we would love to explore the smaller, mom and pop type shops that rural USA has on offer

Utah is gorgeous….Hwy 89 did you stop in Sedona? The dreaded border crossing…be careful driving in Mexico..go the speed limit and don’t keep all of your money in ONE place ie your wallet. Have a great time…but really be cautious. This adventure is a bit unsettling…getting from point a to b….just being honest.

Thank you! The sling I have on in this video has been great. I've been using it for months now and it's held up really well - and it's really affordable! I really like the size of this one. It's enough to hold all the things I need for day-to-day errands/walks, but not so big that it get heavy. If you want to check it out, here's the link: amzn.to/3yKycd2
