At my wedding reception my dad surprises my new husband and I by signing a beautiful song. I am a sign language interpreter so this meant the world to me. He said it took him the entire year I was engaged to learn how to sign this song.

Watched again... and I must say, that men, fathers, have as your goal, to have your daughter, your wives, feel the way this bride is feeling. Her expressions and whole being is simply priceless. I love this song. I was married many many years ago long before this song was ever made. I wish this song was around then and it would have been my Father Daughter song at my wedding way back when. I always cry everytime I hear it. Beautiful song!!!

Young guys watching this....if you have a young lady raised by a father like this, if you're not prepared to provide (and I'm not just talking financial) you will never be able to compete with this man..if you can't be this type of man, you'll never satisfy her. When someone has it good, they generally aren't likely to accept less.

TheFebruaryFlower I don't think he meant competition literally. I don't think he's talking about a woman expecting to be looked after in the way that you mean, either. I could be wrong, but I believe he is saying, that a father that would do this kind of gesture to show his love for his daughter at the wedding has probably done things like this her whole life. He has always shown her he loved her- not just with money or traditional ways. He is warning people that sometimes there are more ways to express love for one another, and if I am correct- what he means is that simply providing financially and "looking after" her won't be enough. She's been taught to have a deeper relationship with loved ones.

Such a great dad and the very definition of a good man. I lost my dad when I was 10 months old but I've always been told by everyone that knew him how much he loved my mom and us kids. I'd like to think he'd have been this kind of dad.

My daughter is only 3 and this gets me teary eyed just thinking of this day for her even though its a very very long time away. This was awesome! He was awesome. I never heard this song before this and its definitely a tear jerker for parents.

Congratulations on self teaching yourself ASL, I Use BSL being in the UK but I'm interested in all world Sign Languages and I'm learning ASL and Native American Sign Languages also and my Mother living in Australia uses both BSL AUSLAN and she can Lip Read and used to Teach both in Australia where she still lives. Neither of us are Deaf I'm Hard of Hearing and that's progressed over the years I'll be 43 in July, but as a child my Mother had a Profoundly Deaf friend who couldn't speak clearly enough and so my Mother went to Evening Classes and with her Friend's help also learnt BSL and passed her course one evening watching her practing during the commercial break watching Coronation Street I asked her to teach me by the time the programme ended I'd mastered the Alphabet and Numbers. Unfortunately I got put into care a year later away from my Mother and end of my Sign Language and Deaf Culture education until I turned 16 and took up Adult Education classes. I'm Pro Deaf Capital D for rights access legal representation equality and the right for parents to be fully educated on Deafness and Sign Language and Deaf Culture before instantly getting their young children Cochlear Implants. I have watched this video so many times. It shows Genuine and Unconditional love this Dad has for his daughter. You can see it in this man's face and body language the love he has for his daughter. This video still gives me goosebumps!
