Great skills! I love jumping and can hit small to medium jumps but when the jump takeoff is steep I can’t do it, freaks me out a bit. I’m guessing because non-steep jumps keep me mostly flat in the air and not going up.

Riding motorcycles in general makes you a faster mountain biker, your brain gets used to a certain speed and reaction times and it translates great to the trails. Everybody should try as many disciplines on two wheels as they can. Great video btw!

Thanks man! And yeah, that makes a lot of sense. A big part of mtb is learning to read terrain, so if everything is slowed down compared to moto - it should be easier.

How are you still liking your stumpy? As soon as it goes on sale, I'm upgrading to that exact one, from my women's ST.. but I have all upgraded components for it, including an XX1 drive train, so it will be even lighter and more smooth... Do you have any dislikes?

I'll pretty much ride any bike. But that being said, after 16 years of riding, this is my favourite bike. No dislikes at all. Only thing I would say is to have 2 pairs of tires, a heavy pair for DH days and a light pair for XC. I don't think you'll regret the upgrade.

I definitely recommend the MTB for cross training, many moto guys are doing it these days. Wish it was as popular back in my moto days, but that certainly wasn't the case 20 years ago. Its great for high-intensity and interval training. Good luck with the pro MX.

At first I was like "I don't know who's "Chris from San Diego" and then you said he raced in Canada". Racing in Canada is basically playing like the 2nd or 3rd division.
@GoodTrails5 жыл бұрын
Yeah crazy big sport. I don't know much about the sport but the said he was being paid plus receiving room and board. Not bad for 2nd or 3rd division! In mtb you pretty much have to be top 20 in the world just to get paid.
@DanArnets14925 жыл бұрын
@@GoodTrails - In motocross/supercross, you have 2 big markets: USA and the World Championship. If you're top10 in one place, you can be top10 in the other. If you move to any other series you're not part of the elite. There's quite a downstep from the AMA championships (USA) to CMC (Canada). Like a top15 AMA rider can go to CMC and fight wins or even for the overall title. It's quite the difference.
@chrissprenkel5 жыл бұрын
@@DanArnets1492 My last MX race was nearly 20 years ago, and I haven't really been involved with the sport since (other than being a fan watching from the sidelines). Back then, and still today, the best riders on the Canadian national circuit are very fast and capable of top-10 finishes at AMA pro nationals. I raced at a national pro level for a short while in Europe and Canada, in addition to the US. I scored AMA national points as a privateer Honda rider, but couldn't quite reach the top-10 before my pro "career" was cut short by back-to-back injuries that sidelined me for about a year-and-a-half. I used that time off the bike to continue my college education and never looked back. Now, at the tender 'ole age of 40, I ride the MTB for fitness and fun whenever possible...and the MX bike only on rare occasion, although it is still my first love.
@DanArnets14925 жыл бұрын
@@chrissprenkel - I'm just saying that 2019 Mike Alessi, who was only getting top15 finishes in AMA competitions, is also the champion of Canada.

Mountain bikes are twice as sketchy at half the speed of a decent dirt bike which is what makes them as fun without the motor. That said; a good dirt bike rider will shred on a beefy all mountain bike in no time due to the speeds they are already accustomed to.
