You can get into them any time. Buy a good kids bike and ride at whatever trails you can find. Don’t make the same mistake I did and start riding late. You might end up being to scared to try anything.

NH is epic. I live like 30 minutes away from drummer hill, where Phil learned to ride. And highland is an hour and a half drive. Plus NH is pretty. Fall foliage, white snow, green trees, and blue lakes. It’s also cool to see people like you who live here as well on the internet because it’s such a small state.

Highland is what's up for sure, that tombstone drop definitely has to be on your list of things to do for the next time you go. The hardest part of that drop is convincing yourself to do it. Plenty of people around that would happily tow you in for a speed check.

Unfortunately, Highland has gone downhill(pun intended)quite a bit since this video. Lift tickets are now $68 for an adult day pass. They no longer make food to order, and you have to pay 9 bucks for a lukewarm cheeseburger with a burnt patty that resembles charcoal. Worst of all, only about half of the trails are open, and it’s been almost a month since opening day. I’ve talked to numerous locals who say that this is the first time they can remember that this many trails have been closed on opening day. They’re building a beginner-friendly area with a magic carpet lift in the middle of the park, forcing trails to be rerouted, and the lift is still as old, clunky, and slow as it’s always been. It’s really frustrating to look back on this video and see how great this place used to be, and then see how far it’s fallen due to greed and poor management. I still think it can return to its former homey vibe, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going that direction anytime soon. Edit: at 6:55, that same burrito that’s $9 in the video? It’s now $12, smaller, and doesn’t come with sour cream or guac.

Alpha Re it is unreal! I went to highland this past weekend for my first time. I had never ridden downhill (I ride a ton of single track and XC). I think I may have found my new favorite type of riding! Definitely worth the trip to Highland!!
