As someone with the building experience, it’s best to use nails for building the shed or any houses because screws break if they bend too much and nails, don’t which means hurricanes nails can allow the wood to move freely

For sealing shingles together, you'd want some type of tar sealant.

You should varnish them with a wood preservative so they won't rot

Nice video. But I did see one main problem with the metal flashing. The bottom (lowest point) should always be under the roof paper. But the rest of it should have been above the paper. Due to water still can flow under the paper when the metal flashing isn't install correctly. Second this is which I've done is hit the plywood with primer. Iincluding all the cut edges and underneath to help seal the wood. Painting wood seals it really good. But that option is optional. There might be a way for you to correct your mistake. But I would recommend talk to a roofer. Before you attempt to make any corrections. By the way I am also not a roofer but I have done a whole house with an actual roofer. So I did learn a few things here and there.

I will be leaving it the way it is I don't see any risk of water making its way under there when it was never a problem on the front or sides before without the flashing
@robertbeyers13082 ай бұрын
@@nics-systems-electric actually it was a problem and it is a problem. After all that is how water is get to the bottom. Water doesn't rise. It always finds a way to get to the bottom and without the flashing install correctly that how water is. It always goes to the bottom. It go under the paper and slowly work it way down. So u suggest next time pit the flashing above the paper at the tip and sides. This time silicone between the paper and the flashing on the side and the top to stop water penetration.
@nics-systems-electric2 ай бұрын
@@robertbeyers1308 Yes as you said water doesn't rise so it won't go up upwards and under the roof. The previous problem was caused by water ingress and absorption at the low edge of the roof due to not enough overhang the front of the plywood had zero water damage. Therefore I'm not concerned and certainly not about to rip apart a brand new roof.

I have in the past shown non-electrical and fire alarm work. As said in the video due to me being in school I do not have time to be doing many of the videos I would have been. To try and maintain an upload schedule I may have to switch out videos. If you do not like them can choose to skip them.
