@blueroninstudios3 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing about this film: it uses every recognizable trope of modern horror films - creaky doors, posession, jump scares, etc. But in the hands of a capable director like James Wan, it uses them EFFECTIVELY to build tension that ratchets up and up and up - along with good character development, getting to know Ed and Lorraine Warren, getting to the Perron family, so the more time spent with the human characters the more you care about them and are terrified for them. And thats the secret behind god horror: good character focus leads to effective horror, even if the uses of the tropes is all over it.
@nikolaiquack85483 жыл бұрын
Eh, I wouldn't exactly call this movie or anything within the Conjuring Universe for that matter "god horror". It lacks a deeper meaning, a subtext to make it really terrifying. Something that movies like Relic, Suspiria (the remake), The Witch, etc. do to perfection.

@@fumetsushinju The only real problem with Annabelle Creation is that it's basically required to end by linking into the original, rather than having a solid ending in its own right. And they were pretty trash people as well. The fact that ED had underage mistress and Lorraine was fully ok with the abuse only makes it worse. Not sure if this is the most requested, but I think you should give As Above, So Below a shot. It’s great.

Fun fact: the song that plays when everyone is setting up the equipment is called In The Room Where You Sleep by a group called Dead Man’s Bones. Dead Man’s Bones’ co-creator and singer is Ryan Gosling.

By "based on a true story" it means that it's based on accounts of scam artists from the past, not like "it happened in reality".
