The language that is being sung is called “chaos” language. In the lore. The language is a mixture of past languages (English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French etc.) that have grown and changed so much overtime to become unrecognisable by modern ears. Another song called “The incomplete stone” is interesting because it depicts two different beings (gestalt, also referred to as shades, and replicants, referred to as clones) that sing to each other despite not understanding one another. The lore of this world is really interesting

the lore of the world of nier is genuinely insane, having only played through replicant, automata and read the novels of replicant, there's no other game as intricately written as Nier. I've yet to find a single game that can even compete.

21:55 “What she sayin’?” Yakusoku korosu itami ga (約束殺す痛いが) Yakusoku = A promise Korosu = to kill Itami ga = this hurts I’m a Japanese amateur, but basically “This is the pain of killing a promise”. The Japanese version of Weight of the World (The Japanese name is actually Kowareta Sekai Uta, or “Song of a broken world”) is EXTREMELY melancholy, while the English version is a little more hopeful. That’s why the singer breaks down and cries at the end, the words are VERY heavy.

Funfact about A Beautiful Song is the boss Simone was designed in such a way that she and the song are in sync, giving the impression her attacks are part of a dance she's performing while singing on stage. Definitely one of the game's early highlights

It's worth mentioning most of the tracks, especially the atmospheric ones that play, have multiple "levels of intensity". Just wandering around you'll hear the first one, when a normal combat starts, it'll mix it in with the next level, and when you're fighting tougher enemies it'll go up again. The full length of the song is made in all levels so that it can transition seemlessly at any point during the track. This isn't something unique to the OST either, everything in Nier Automata was thought through to such an extent, it's really a special experience.

there are 3 versions of this song as far as I know, one in Japanese, one in English and one in the chaos language that is part of Nier's lore. When you get to the final ending of the game they play together in one song, and all I'll say is its one of the most emotionally impacting scenes in video game history.

So, at a gaming event before Nier Automata was released, Square Enix released a gameplay trailer of the Simone fight with A Beautiful Song playing. That trailer alone convinced me to buy Nier Automata. I didn’t need any additional context to decide if I wanted to buy it. All I knew was that I HAD to experience that fight with that music playing in the background. It remains my favorite moment of that game.

NieR series has so many amazing tracks, it's hard to narrow it down to favs. Like people are saying a majority of tracks are in Chaos Language, the made up language for the game, but you guys gotta check out the English version of Weight of the World. It's the one track in a language that's understandable, and for the english version J'nique Nicole has such a powerful voice (she's the singer in the climax of A Beautiful Song)

Oh man, there's so many great songs in Nier, but you definitely need at least one more video that includes Song of the Ancients. One of the most iconic songs from the series and a must listen. I freaked the f@#& when it was City Ruins - Ray of Light they reacted to first that track right there is IMO THE single best overall track in Nier Automata I don't care what anyone says god its just so damn good just when you think that track couldn't get any better....as the game progresses they even did like 2 or 3 other versions of that song in different languages no less and they're all equally just amazing. This game has other great tracks too Song of the Ancients - Atonement,A Beautiful Song,The Sound of the End,Possessed By Disease,End of the Unknown the list goes on but for me no other track in Automata had more impact on me than City Ruins - Ray of Light did and has stuck with me for years even now its that great imo. I highly recommend listening to Falkkone's metal cover of City Ruins its just as good as the actual versions PLUS he did 2 versions one that's more symphonic metal (which imo is the best version of the 2) and he recently re-did it with Rena (his go-to,long time preferred vocalist) both versions have been imo one of the best metal covers ever plus its of to me one of the best tracks in Automata so that's a plus. Now this is me personally but whoever it was that suggested the japanese version of Weight of the World clearly is either biased or just prefers the japanese version cuz the Eng dub of that song is just as good as ANY of the versions of that song but I prefer the eng dub and the end of yorha versions especially the end of yorha version cuz of how utterly POWERFUL that version is (especially as it progresses it switches to the vocals of children singing it which is the best overall part of it) but hey any version of weight of the world is I wouldn't call Nier music iconic by any means but it IS very memorable to this day
