Knowing the story, 2B should have been given the order to hunt 9S. That's such a great plot line I would love to see, but noooooo they give us a stupid virus and mercy killing scene in ending A which makes absolutely no sense. How is strangling him a nice way to kill him? and why would strangling kills him as android? he doesn't need to breathe! I am so mad that we got that BS instead of getting to explore the conflict and emotion of 2B as she's hunting 9S, and how 9S respond. Does 9S fight back to preserve his life, or will he try to convince 2B to betray Yorha? We could have gotten 2B and 9S teaming to attack Yorha, which lead to a real fight with the commander and all the handlers we've bonded with. Instead we got the virus as a cop out. We killed Yorha, but they are all infected so it's not the same as actually killing them because we are on different side. I think I've rambled on too long but that's what I got on the top of my mind. I remembered feeling frustrated by a lot of things as I play the game, but I forgot most of them now.

Most of the lyrics of these songs do not come from a real language The singer Emi Evans, who has been part of this series for a while and has provided vocals for many songs in this video, was tasked by the composer to help create lyrics in a made up language, the “Chaos Language“ The idea is that it is supposed to sound like an actual language taking influences from many real existing languages but ultimately the lyrics don’t mean anything
@dumbsterdives10 ай бұрын
I believe the explanation she's given in the past is that she was thinking about how real languages might sound after a couple thousand years have passed, which is why some songs sound closer to certain languages than others. like kaine salvation's lyrics sound very gaelic, for example.

Replicant/gestalts ost can be quite lacking compared to Automata. Both versions suffer from all the repeat songs like yonah and disposession. The whole game is mostly an ost of different renditions of the same songs. Think about how many different versions of song of the ancients, kaine, and emil there are. Hills of radiant winds also sneaks into some other songs as a motif. Ashes of dreams is also just yonahs motif, dance of the evanescant is yonah but as a waltz. Then there's the edition differences that make it difficult to choose which version is better. Gestalt has better vocals than replicant, but replicant has better instrumentals and orchestration overall, but gestalt has way better percussion with its drums, and it's messed up vocal recordings while technically inferior as recordings, sound more unique than replicants crisper recordings. Almost like you're there in a cathedral with the choir playing in the distance. If you cut the fat/bloat of there being too many repeat songs, and combined the best qualities of both versions of the ost, then maybe it could stand on equal footing with Automata. However Automata still has a dynamic soundtrack and replicant does not. That's a big loss for replicant. Automata technically has well over 100 songs if we count all it's variations (which we should since we count replicants different instrumental versions of yonah and dispossesion)

Something that's important to note about Weight of the World / Kowareta Sekai no Uta is that they aren't just different language versions, they are actually *different songs* sung to more or less the same track. The lyrics of each reflect the perspective and emotions of the ending they play at. I can't speak on the french version as I dont speak the language (well, lol) but i imagine its a similar story for that version as well. That being said, the jpn version is one of my favourite songs ever. Theres just so much packed into both the lyrics and her performance, and it never fails to put a tear in my eye Also, on the note of chaos language: what you've heard is correct, it isn't any particular real language. However for some songs it's not just completely made up, but Emi worked to try and make lyrics that "felt like" an existing language, several thousands of years in the future. To my knowledge, there are songs for German, French, Japanese, and English in this style across both the Nier and Automata osts. Speaking as a language nerd, its one of the coolest things ive ever heard and Emi is so great for pulling it off

The soundtrack for the Nier series is very much involved with the game itself, because most of it is a bunch of leitmotifs for the characters (notice how I said Nier series). It is because some of the songs in Automata came pay homage to Gestalt & Replicant (which was remade and remastered, game and soundtrack both, so that means you will be going thru replicant twice). That and there are many variants of the songs within the soundtracks themselves and they are a treat to listen to separately since they convey a different feeling, so you might want to look up the other 3 Weight of the World variants (I highly recommend saving the song End of YorHa ver. last after hearing the rest of weight of the world) It is also wonderful you were able to glean so much without knowing the source material thus I would say you are in for a wonderful and heartbreaking journey. Knowing the full story, weight of the world hits like a ton of bricks.. Especially the final version with the choir at the end credits

This is probably my favorite video game, and video game soundtrack. Not only is the music profound, but the game in and of itself is also incredibly profound, and the soundtrack, gameplay, and art are a perfect and seamless blend making for a masterpiece of a game in my opinion. Fair warning, if you play it, it will break you pretty good lol, but it's worth it! If you do play it just make sure you read the side materials (yeah, there's a freaking book that you can buy separate from the game! It includes several short stories that are not in the game as well as fun art stuff and such), it helps you deal with the emotional trauma that comes from this game. Probably the most impactful and beautiful game I've ever played, highly recommend. Also, I highly recommend listening to the tracks "A Beautiful Song", "Peaceful Sleep", "City Ruins (Rays of Light)", "Forest Kingdom", and "Birth of a Wish". I'd name more tracks as they are all sooo good, but these I think are my favorites.

Posessed by Disease is such an underrated song, in my opinion, one of the best in the ost.

There's three different language versions of Weight of the World, and iirc which one you hear over the credits actually depends on _which ending you get._ Ending A, English. Ending B, Japanese. Ending C and D use what I think is a French-based made-up language called "Chaos Language". ...there's also a fourth version you may hear in the game, tied to a _final_ ending that the player has to well and truly earn.

So yeah, the music in this game is just about as unique, weird and surprising as the game itself is, I don't know if you play games at all, if you do, go and play this. It doesn't even matter if the genre isn't exactly your wheelhouse, just pick the easiest difficulty and go, the story is one of those "once in a lifetime, one in a million" kind of deals, you haven't seen one quite like it before, and you'll probably never see something quite like it again, unless you go for Nier Replicant or other games that Taro might cook in the future. Don't be fooled by the first end credits though, the game and the story isn't over, you'll come across the end credits a second time, but that's not the end either, there's more game and story still left. You'll know when you've hit the last end credit sequence when you get there. This doesn't mean that you need to beat the game multiple times, sometimes people unfortunately say that you need to play it through multiple times and that's just not true, it just means that when you see the end credits for the first time, those are not really the end credits and you haven't beaten the game yet.

This coupled with the story made me cry like a baby like in the FFX ending. Manly tears, of course. In Weight of the World she started crying in the studio and thought she screwed it up, but they kept it in anyway.

Speaking of games with great music, Final Fantasy XIV did a collaboration with Neir. If would be a great introduction to the music if FF XIV which I think you will love. They specifically did a battle version of Weight of the World that is amazing.

The thing about this game is that if you know how it goes, you will start crying quite quickly. It's one of the few that really got to me on an emotional level. However, I can still play the game unlike with What Remains of Edith Finch which broke me too much to ever play it again. I just can't deal with a young mother dying before she ever gets a chance to even begin raising her child.

Waiting for her to do Bipolar Nightmare, lol. Or that song I forget the name of it, that the robots sing "This cannot continue". Would probably have to actually watch in-game footage because I don't know if the robots' singing is included in the OST, I think it's actually voice lines played while playing the game, but the voices add so much to the piece.

Such joy that you decided to listen to the Japanese version of Weight of the World! The English version of the song has somewhat more hopeful lyrics, while the Japanese version's lyrics are despairing... Massive props to the singer that managed to rein it in just enough to keep singing!

Some of Nier Automata's songs have 3 versions, English, Japanese and Chaos. I think Weight Of The World also has a Chaos version. 9:46 Yes, she is crying, usualy you have to be emotional to be crying.

Keiichi Okabe the composer of these songs is a master of making songs that fit a specific mood or character or scene. Even if you’re not into anime I definitely recommend listening to the Yuki Yuna is a Hero soundtracks. These songs like Nier are better in tandem with the source material.

I hope you do touhou music in the future. The entirety of the series help caused the creation of undertale and all of its music. As a plus the creator of the series is very lax with the copyright for his characters and music which allows for anyone to create derivative works of touhou from song remixes to selling your own games. For some song suggestions they are Gensokyo the Gods Loved, Broken Moon, Maiden's Capprico, Love Colored Master Spark, Flowering Night, Hartman's Youkai Girl, and U.N. Owen Was Her.

There are a couple more Nier songs that i would recommend you listen to: "Song of the Ancients/Atonment" (or "Song of the Ancients/Fate" which is from the previous game) "A Beautiful Song" "Weight of the World/End of YoRHa" (Personally, i like this version the most, but any version of that song is beautiful) "Alien Manifestation" "City Ruins" "Kainé/Salvation" "Emil/Sacrifice" (also from the previous game, but it gives a ton of context to "Emil/Despair")
