Tim , i was so glad to see you had the Hazard lights on going down the street , I remember the other day you were mowing the street with the 2038 , and you were out in the road , and did not have the Hazard lights on , I had a family member back in the 70's on a Ford 8N tractor doing the same thing with no lights on, He was hit in the rear by a car running about 40MPH that did not see him , and he lived , but lost one of his legs in the crash, I always turn my Hazard lights on , when i am near the road.

Don't feel bad, pedestal damage is very, very common. I think we all have done this at least once. I busted a much smaller plastic one with our riding mower,,,,,Could have swore I was in reverse. My dad was mad at me since he is a phone line repairman. My dad used to work lots of Saturday O/T on phone line repairs and I spent many of those Saturdays with him splicing/repairing phone cables and fixing/replacing pedestals where careless farmers either bush hogged or plowed or tried to bale or disc a phone pedestal. Yes, believe it or not we got two square bales of hay with phone cables and parts of the box in the hay bale. County road department likes running them over as well. Sometimes I think it's a clear signal to the phone company to move the box to a more out of the way place where bush hogs and road graders do not hit them every month. Sometimes the phone company picks the worst possible location for these things. Be safe and thanks for the channel.

Here’s a little tip for you, take a ring of some sort, attach it to the center of the hydraulic hose, get a stretchable bungie cord and secure one end up out of the way, the other end to the ring, this way when you extend the arm all the way or part way it will take up the slack when you retract it back or raise it up for transport, kind of like the ones use between semi tractors and the trailers....just a thought. Nice video, and it was helpful when Christy explained the radio communication set up, it was nice to hear both of your voices being nice and clear without raising your voice....

Sorry you "busticated" the hose! HEY, you are up early, hour behind me!
@tylerjordan25954 жыл бұрын
I used to run one of those for my old neighborhood I may have some wisdom. You kept setting the mower down and then extended the boom that's a good way to make ruts, wear through tires, and break things. Don't put that hose there I bet it'll break when you fold the mower. I remember when I got mine it was bought at an auction we loaded it on the trailer with pallet forks and my neighbor brought his backhoe over and we used chains around the bucket to unload the mower. Buy spare hoses, saves downtime I actually infuriated my finance committee because I bought 5 spares of 5 different hoses just for that mower (because they were common failures due to my conditions) but to this day I still keep 2 full sets of hoses and belts around for and that's every different machine and implement! The clean freaks in my family always gripe that we don't need the spares, until something breaks and instead of driving 30min one way to the parts store and having to figure out what exactly we need, I just walk to the shed read my handy dandy labels and swap the parts in the same amount of time it takes us to get to the store. I hope my story imparted some ideas and good advice I'm still a young man but I hope the experiences I do have can help.

I have replaced both hoses on my LaneShark within an hour's work of each other.😬 There is a good deal of excess length needed to use the cutter in its various configurations. I thought I had it "tucked away" the first time, but a limb grabbed one and pulled it right into the blades. Second hose, that gave me a hydraulic oil shower, was actually run over, pulling the swivel end off the motor. I have purchased some velcro strapping to try and alleviate the recurrence, and will let you know how that goes. Zip tie on your implement's hose would likely not have lasted as the telescoping feature would have broken the tie off anyway. They used to make a spring retractor system for wires and hoses on telescoping/articulating sections that would keep those things from drooping to the ground, or in the work area, and keep them on the proper side of the implement, but I havent seen any in years.

Seems you broke the rule of letting that tractor leave the place without a couple loops of baling wire hanging on the frame somewhere. I think all our tractors always have at least some baling wire hanging somewhere. You never know what you'll need it for. It's amazing what you can fix with baling wire and pliers when the alternative is walking home! Also, I love the Gator sitting in the background (probably to haul video equipment). My Father-in-Law bought a Kubota side-by-side a couple years ago and he uses that thing constantly. They are in the process of building a new detached shed and I've been teasing him that he's going to end up putting his truck in the shed so the Kubota can be parked in the attached garage. Then, when he needs the truck, he can just drive the Kubota the 50 feet to the shed to get the truck. :-)

Hi there, another great video, thanks. I would like to make a comment on a recent video. It was the one about the single point connector on the 1025R. I have a 2016 1025R with a H120 loader, my friend Doug has a 2015 1025R with a H120 loader and also has a mauser cab. WE found that the kit will also fit the H120 loader. The only difference is the 120R loader has angle fittings on the end of the hard lines, the H120 has straight ends on the hard lines. We put some angle ends on and everything else works great, and fits perfect. Doug found the fittings on line at Hydraulics direct. the part description is FS6500-06-06-90° Elbow,3/8"ORFS Male x 3/8" ORFS Female Swivel. Of course you need 4 , and they were $12.00 for all 4. Just thought i would pass this on in case anyone else wondered if this kit can be used on the H120 loader. It can and works very well, great addition to our tractors. This old man will never again have trouble hooking up the hoses. Anyway hope this helps.

Hi Tim, A couple of decades you would never have seen phone pedestals in such bad shape. With so many folk opting away from land lines it won't be long before they are likely all abandoned. Regarding the hose issue. I can see why the hose was so long for the extension. But I would have thought Rhino would have added some kind of support to keep the hose better supported to keep this from happening. Great Video as always!

I agree, not sure why they didn't weld an 8 or 10 inch vertical rod with a spring attached to let the hose flex. This apparatus is commonplace on most ditch bank mowers. Upon further review the Bush Hog SM60 has what I've described minus the spring, they simple just use zip ties.

Road sides are a pain no matter what equipment you have. Always ruts from people driving off the road, the trash, very rarely a level pass all the way through, constantly changing angle and height. Always challenging. Now i want 5 series to go play with. One idea to consider on your hose problem is zip tieing a spring to the middle of hose and somewhere on the frame to allow movement and still keep it up off the ground. Keep selling tractors!

I retired from my local water utility. My station was out in the country. One weekend, a local farmer called me to the roadside about a mile away from the plant. He had knocked a fire hydrant off it’s base and broke it right in half while mowing some road frontage. The swing of his mower got it. Come to find out, it had been leaking and it main valve was shut off and was on their schedule to be replaced. Each fire hydrant has separate shut off valve usually about 2 feet away. There where no houses within at a mile of this hydrant, so it wasn’t as big problem with the local volunteer fire department. It was mainly used for flushing the line. I was disappointed that it wasn’t a fountain. Those make great videos........ Lots of problems arise when you try to get something done. Thanks for showing us the ups and the downs.
