Political commentator Charlie Downes tells Matt Frei that, whether you agree with his Russia comments or not, Nigel Farage is doing what other 'mainstream politicians' are afraid to do - 'speaking his mind'.
Downes, who is in favour of creating a Reform UK party youth group, says that nobody can deny Farage is 'dissenting against the orthodoxy.'
He tells Matt, "A conversation isn't allowed to be had. It just turns into: 'Oh, he's a Putin apologist.'"
His comments come after the Reform UK Leader said the West had provoked Russia into invading Ukraine.
Farage said the "ever-eastward expansion" of NATO and the European Union had given the Kremlin "an excuse" to move troops across the border.

_"America didn't tolerate nuclear bombs on their doorstep in the Cuban crisis, why should Russia allow it?"_ What are you even talking about? If you're suggesting that russia invaded Ukraine to prevent nuclear bombs (missiles?) being stationed there because it's so close to the russian border, you should: 1. Understand that NATO doesn't figure into it - if the US makes an agreement with Ukraine outside of NATO for something like that, it's going to happen NATO or no NATO. 2. Look at a map sometime. Estonia and Latvia both have borders *with* russia and are a stone's throw from St Petersburg, and now Finland *is* a member of NATO and it has a hella long border with russia. 3. If russia was so afraid of NATO attacking it, isn't it odd how the border with Finland has been stripped to near emptiness over the last year. One would think russia did not fear a NATO attack at all.

In early February 1990, U.S. leaders made the Soviets an offer. According to transcripts of meetings in Moscow on Feb. 9, then-Secretary of State James Baker suggested that in exchange for cooperation on Germany, U.S. could make “iron-clad guarantees” that NATO would not expand “one inch eastward.”

After a while, the Anglo-Norman lowlanders ask the English government for help. I AM SURE WE WOULD HAVE INVADED! Nigel did *not* get it spot on. He just parroted russian propagandist talking points. He used the misleading "NATO expansion" phrase, and talks as if russia has the right to invade countries as it likes if it says it feels "provoked", despite a longstanding statement of intent by Putin of re-establishing empire borders by invasion. He also ignores that all else has minor relevance to the stark fact that russia's invasion of Ukraine is a direct threat to all Europe, and the only way to resolve the war without Europe remaining in danger is for russia to lose. Any negotiated or forced ceasefire that results in Ukraine surrendering the occupied lands, will at best put things on hold while russia rebuilds and taps the Donbas resources. The russian desired goal and talking points that Nigel and Donald seem both to have fallen for *will not work.* For those afraid of nukes, bear in mind that russia has the most to lose if it uses them: 1. Once used they lose all their threat-to-use scare value. 2. If Moscow and St Peterburg get nuked in return, there is not much russia left.

I am in pain and can hardly walk yet the NHS didn't even put me on a waiting list for a hip operation. But it is chronic underfunding and, actually, anti-migrant rhetoric that is driving away the staff that make these systems able to function that is the problem. Can't believe how thick some people can be ! The Ukrainian War was started long ago by one little man and one little man only. First he undermines the nation, then using available resources and sending in others from Russia, like Special Forces, Security and Military Intelligence he establishes a base/bases from which to operate. In this case he built and equipped two small armies and annexed Crimea, all in 2014. They take on the established Ukrainian Government in terrorist activity undermining that government and attacking the Ukrainian Army. These people live and breathe PROPAGANDA every day of their lives, their experts spread it everywhere. Even though it's well known some people will still buy it. Only one man started this war, only one man is determined to finish it on his own terms, PUTIN. Russia has a long history, it includes attacking it's neighbors and incorporating them into Russia where it can. They do not need an excuse, they just do it, continuing control by one means or by many. Why do people think many former "soviet" countries joined NATO?

Correct he does not. Imagine Scotland independent in Napoleonic times. Some highlanders from Elgin fraudulently get "elected" (Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world so how could we expect elections there to be free and fair) to run Scotland. The first things these members of the InverGordon clan do is BAN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. They then invite Napoleon to train their highland regiments, bring military materiel into Scotland. After a while, the Anglo-Norman lowlanders ask the English government for help. I AM SURE WE WOULD HAVE INVADED! The scenario is actually worse because Scots are Scots and English are English but Ukrainians are Russians: they have the same race, same language, same culture and same religion and one in three in Kiev have relatives in Moscow. Nigel spoke truth. In my channel I have a video with intellectual reasons for voting REFORM UK (try to watch all fifteen minutes please).

@@Mestari1Gaming no, I’m not saying the EU army would invade, just like NATO haven’t invaded Russia. I’m just saying that the English people would feel very nervous and defensive If they did what NATO have done . NATO have 22,500 soldiers spread out through what was known as the eastern block.

8:02 skilled immigration is much different than unskilled immigration, it'd be foolish to pretend it's all the same, out of control immigration is more of a drawn on public services than a benefit, I don't think anyone can disagree with that. If every person that immigrated was a doctor lawyer or tradesmen sure, then let as many people as can fit in the country in, but criminals, people that will just life off the system without paying into it. That's bad for any country on an economic level. On a humanitarian level it helps people escape from living in a bad part of the world, but it doesn't always help the economy. Not every person is an asset.

Farage stated the truth. Simply put "you poke there bear expect to be attacked". Farage stated that provoking Putin inevitably leads to retaliation. Putin is a knowledgeable and strategic political operator who also uses criminal tactics. Western political leaders lack his strategic and historical intelligence. There is a void of intellect in western politics. Farage does not support Putin but understands why he felt provoked. Historically, NATO's expansion, despite verbal assurances to Russia, led to tensions, with no formal treaties to prevent it. Mainstream media, like BBC and LBC, is misrepresenting Farage's comments. They are conducting a smear campaign, but it's transparent. Farage has faults, but this narrative is unfair.
