Please be advised that it is possible to take out the main window without disconnecting the winder mechanism. The bottom metal side of the main window has a slot halfway (visible at 5:50). By moving the window upward as far as possible, after removing the rubber stopper at the top of the vent window, is it possible to get the rear nylon roller at that slot and the front one in front of the rail. Now the glass is free from the winder mechanism and can be lifted out. I removed the main window on my car in this way in order to replace the rubber seals which sit on the top of the door panels, on the outside. The riveted ones which prevent rain from going down the window into the door.

I once spent about three days trying to figure out how to do this with Mitsubishi Delica; in the end I had to rotate the glass though several additional dimensions

Question: if I'm just replacing the vent window weatherstrip, can I simply remove the 3/8" nut/stud beneath the vent window in order to pop out the vent window only to access the weatherstrip? 1968 MGB, if that matters.

actually, the vent window has 4 fasteners. two under, and two at the front of the door. but the whole apparatus is integrated with the front window slide rail. so I don't think you can remove the vent window frame without first taking out the main window. I have another video on replacing the rubber seal in the vent window. let me look that one up for you. it may give more insight.

@@AlexPlatacis Update: there's no way to access that 7/16 nut---can't get a wrench or a socket in that tight space. Ended up pulling out the entire window, where it now sits in my garage until the seal comes. Again, thanks for your input.
