Thank you so much for showing these. I have very little experience, but I read/heard somewhere that groovers weakened the leather, so I don't like using them. A creaser makes more sense since it leaves a depression into which the stitches can be placed and still be below the surface of the leather. I cannot afford all 7 at once, but I'll get them one or two at a time till I have them all. I'm starting with the 3 and 5 (most common for me). Love your videos. Thank you for producing them.

I just purchased a 2.0 mm for creasing and a 3.0 mm for stitching. Seems like such a simple device to achieve a perfect stitch line. No one has thought of it before.

Your presentation is excellent. Very thorough, great camera location. A new favorite account. 💯 It IS great to find a specialty toolmaker that has reliable quality and moderate pricing. Craftwork is EXPENSIVE in The West. Thanks friend 👍

I have pricking irons from Crimson Hides. One order I picked up myself on a business trip to Singapore in 2018. I met with Boon and Sherlyn in a mall in the north we had coffee and talked for an hour. My last order I got shipped, no issue at all getting it to Germany. Thanks for the review, I will give it a try.

Nigel , I love your videos. I need some help. I’m wanting to start making sheaths for my knives that I forge. I don’t want to waste money on a kit. I have seen all of your reviews on tools. Can you make a review for a beginner setup? What needle size and what thread size and what awl blade and pricking iron. Thatwould be a very good video. A lot of people watch you because you are so knowledgeable and help us to create beautiful leather. Thank you and have a good day

I’ve been using the 4.0 for my stitch lines and it’s replaced my wing dividers.

A good mate of mine is a toolmaker, I asked what he would charge to make one of these, even at 'mates rates' he said at least $60.00 AUD.

Would love a few of these, but shipping to the USA is a nightmare - I ordered a few tools from their website and the package sat in customs for three months, then just disappeared. Customer service said they can't guarantee their shipping due to the pandemic. Six months later my skiving knife and a few punches arrived. Outstanding quality knife, but wouldn't order from their website again.

Such a shame you had a nightmare with customs. Glad that they were released to you and that you have enjoyed using the tools once they arrived.

For someone primarily making wallets what one would your recommend for stitch marking? 3mm?

40 bucks for a single tool... that's too much for my tastes and budget living in Toronto with our housing costs. I'll stick to adjustable marker... and make my own on top of that. But I appreciate the review!

I don’t have the creasing tool, but I do use the cheap Chinese made round dents 3.85mm, 4mm and or 5mm to make my stitching lines. But for stitching irons i exclusively use crimson hides irons. I have the 3.25-4mm in both euro and olive

@@tariqkamil7853 I nearly purchased french irons in 2.45mm but decided against them when I could not find a rockwell hardness for their irons. The potential hardness of DC53 is 62-64 which is too brittle to expect a lifetime of service from a fine french pricking iron. It adds cost to undergo a tempering cycle to reduce the hardness slightly and improve toughness but it is worth it. So if Crimson hides does temper their irons to about rockwell 55 or so they'd be wise to advertise that fact so informed consumers might overcome their buyer's resistance. I went with a couple of irons with replaceable individual teeth from well known and respected supplier and I plan to make my own in order to add more options to my tools

We are lucky that so many tool makers are around and that there is choice in a range of prices for us to pick from. That is part of the reason for doing these reviews. Hope you continue to enjoy them.
