This video will hopefully assist you in choosing the right tool to suit you.and your style of stitching.
Due to it's size and to make it easier to find the iron you want to see, it has been broken down into a number of parts.
In addition to this, you can download the specification sheet from. www.armitageleather.com/shop

I have the same size 2+9 bought more than a month ago and tested it and it looks nice. I had the same and Japanese version 2+5. I sold it before getting the 2+9 french one. I think I made a mistake selling the Japanese version at a lower price. The Japanese version has strong teeth and sometimes I need it for thicker leather.

As u get smaller and smaller with the irons. The teeth get smaller too. 4mm and 3.85 are 2mm as u get to 3.38mm teeth is 1.9mm... Spoke to crimson and they explained it to me

Great review mate. I’m now closer to buying a few set of these Crimson irons based on numerous rave reviews. Tho not exactly cheap, seems like a good bargain considering how expensive quality pricking irons can get. Just one more question: do they stay crisp and sharp for a long time? Cheers

Looks great, but I think the Kevin Lee are irons are just as good and a little bit cheaper.

Hey, Nigel! Have you ever heard of ZJ irons? They’re produced by a leather crafter in China that goes by ZJ Handwork and I would love to hear your thoughts on them!

Ive heard of 4Z Irons? Idk if thats what ur talking about. Every iron have their own advantages and disadvantages. No single iron is perfection but there is plenty of great irons, however. It merely comes down to choice imho

Looks gorgeous! Which are your favorite stitching irons out of all that you've tried? I mostly use a 8 or 7 spi with a 0.8mm thread for most of my stuff currently. Thank you for taking the time and putting the effort into making these videos. I have revisited your videos multiple times throughout the time I've been into leather work and they have helped out a ton so I wanted to thank you for that! Greatly appreciated!!

I use 5mm diamond chisel, 1.0 tiger thread and that’s what I like, I’m wanting to get these French style pricking irons, 3.85 can I continue to use the 1.0 size thread?

Hi Jimmy, 5mm to 3.85mm is quite a leap for the same thread. The 3.85mm irons prefer a 0.6mm thread.

Are these designed to always punch straight through the leather?

Yes

No, you can also use them the traditional way. Since they are made via EDM machining, which is the most precise, accurate, smooth machining (although the most expensive machining process) they are able to make the teeth much thinner so that you can punch all the way through the leather.

Do you personally prefer the french style irons or the Japanese style irons by crimson?
