For me red and green delicious apples. I'm always curious when I watch you, James and other United kingdom KZbin's...fences and paths that you walk along and cross is it not private property. Here in Canada I see a fence that is as far as I go.

Nice video Nigel, I have a question that often comes to mind. When talking about composition, you always hear many photographers say to "identify your subject or focal point" and compose around that. But on vistas, wide shots, panos, I sometimes can't say I have a specific subject. It is more a capture of the scene itself. The shot at 8:05 is like that. What are your thoughts? Do you sometimes see the entire scene as a subject or do you always have a specific one?
@NigelDanson6 жыл бұрын
Good question... I think in that image the lake is the subject. But often don’t have a specific subject in a big vista. In my experience it does work better when you do though - be it a mountain, cloud or lake.

Great photos! First time I went wild camping was back during the heatwave during summer. A storm was rolling in that evening and just managed to set up my tent before the strong winds started! Then I almost started a wildfire from my stove as the wind knocked it over onto the grass so I was panicking and pouring all my water on the grass! Couldn't sleep a wink obviously due to the thunder, lightning flashes and the unbelievable winds. The morning after, the rain kept snuffing my fire out and I use a wood stove so my fuel got wet :( Can't wait to do it again!

Great video Nigel, Snowdonia looked very atmospheric and although you sounded disappointed with the weather it meant you got some great photos. I loved the one at 09.28 with the soft light on the left and the mist on the right. The last photo is very dramatic and powerful. I absolutely love wild camping for photography. My last camp was a tour of Cornwall, but due to a spinal injury and despite surgery I am unable to enjoy it at present - So frustrating watching you guys.

Thanks, Nigel, for this video from Fog-Snowdonia! Really, I enjoyed it, what a lovely place. Wish I could tackle those mountains, but glad you did it. Need to say, to see two photographers together on tour makes this more interesting. As far as i know it's also rather rare among KZbin. Yes, there are some collectives but even there, everyone does his "own" thing/video. Except "Critique the Community" from f-stoppers. I like it. It does give more information and suggestions, if two people see an opportunity to take a picture. Thanks for sharing and greetings from Germany, Nigel.

Interesting video with lovely scenery, when you could see it. Big fan of James Popys, so will be looking forward to seeing his take on this trip. I'm not sure if I have vertigo or acrophobia, but my heart was in my throat several times when you were standing so, so close to the edge!
@NigelDanson6 жыл бұрын

@erichstocker41736 жыл бұрын
I have acrophobia which has gotten worse as I've aged. While the video didn't bother, it caused me to realize that I could never have put my camera at that type of position. That why my "mountain" photos are always looking up and never looking down into the valley.

Bit of a downer about the fog, but you still got some cracking photos. The one of James on the cliff is a top shot. I tried to get my kids to get in to some of my landscape shots recently, but apparently I'm not cool enough for them to hang around with anymore (I'm sure I am, at least my Mum says so). Brilliant drone footage too. I'd say it was worth if for that alone.

Quick tip: consider to get if you don’t have it already the XC 50-230. I know it’s not water resistant and it’s in fact a bit on the cheap side but optically at f9-f11 is amazing and a fantastic value for money. And to top that it’s really light as it’s mostly plastic. :)
