Many thanks, I enjoyed this. Beautiful light and a lovely spring evening in Marin. A bit nostalgic for me as I grew up in Northern California and live far away now. Keep those vlogs coming!

Awesome video Nigel. I know how tough it is to create vlogs on a regular basis, particularly landscape photography videos. Every now and then you need to take some time to pause and reset. Great to see you back into the swing of things though. I must admit this has been the first bicycle photography video that I’ve seen on KZbin, this could be the start of a trend :) The light was wonderful and soft as the sun was setting and the images you captured made great use of this. I look forward to part two mate!

+Andrew Marr thanks Andrew! I don't think my camera will survive too many bumpy bike trips! Fun though! And the only way I could get there that weekend.

Hi Nigel, I'm just going through your back-catalogue. Great stuff. I've been to SF loads of times (used to work for HP) but never saw these rolling green hills...looks just like my Peak District..;-) I'm learning so much about composition from your videos, so thank you. You have a great "eye" for this stuff...I must get out more and see what I can "see"..;-)

Just found your vlog and I must say you have a wonderful collection of good videos. I'm going to watch through them all and wait for more goodies to come. In this video you mention your gear and for most of the items I do follow. I would prefer a typical 3/4/5-way pan head instead of the ball head to be able to lock down the different axis separately, but I guess that is just a preference. I do follow you on the choice of lenses but I tend to end up with primes instead of zooms. But I kind of drop out on your choice of filters so maybe a good introduction the basics of filters would be a nice topic for a video? recommendations and so on? (if you already made one I guess I will find it the coming weeks 😊 ) Thanks for a great channel!

+Ian Livermore thanks! Love doing the videos. It is just very time consuming and sometimes photography quality suffers as thinking about other stuff. Hopefully going to get to a weekly schedule now

You recommend a l-bracket and a cable release. I wanted to buy both , but then I noticed that I will run into problems when my d750 is mounted in portrait orientation. The cable release won't fit when my camera is mounted with the l-bracket on my tripod. The cable stands out. Is there a solution for this problem?

Good to see a new video Nigel. Given that you were cycling and size and weight of kit was going to be an issue, what made you decide to take the Nikon rather than your Fujifilm XT2?
@NigelDanson7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Phil - It was an issue - I underestimated how heavy it all was! I only have a 35mm (50mm equivalent) lens for my XT2 - so it isn't great for the shots I wanted to take. Good fun though!

I really like how you got the walker in your first shot, it adds so much. What brilliant idea, I have to find the next stage. Please may I ask where in England you are from originally?

+Mark Harris thanks Mark - original from Lancashire :-)

Nigel Danson I thought so that's why I asked, as long as it isn't Burnley! I think you might be able to guess where I'm from with that comment, although I now live in Preston. So that's yourself, Thomas Heaton (also Lancastrian), Paul G Johnson (Yorkshireman unfortunately, but we can't hold that against him) and Simon Baxter (North Yorkshire I think). It seems all the best landscape photographers are Northerners. I'm the exception that proves the rule, I'm northern (Lancastrian) but I'm nowhere near as good as the above mentioned.

Following you since your 1st video where you promised me to show more of printing (maybe you remeber) . Happy to see you were telling the truth :) really like your work and the way you are presenting your footage. On my wishlist for your future work would be some deeper explaining on composition. Most Videos I've seen so far were more or less rules of thirds, getting close and "don't include too much". A Series of techniques for composition and what you do think on location and while development going deeper and deeper would be nice. Hope I could give you some helpful input for future videos. Best regards from GER! Andreas

Hi Nigel, thank you for all your videos, they are really helpful! Just wanted to ask whether you have any recommendation for an L-bracket for the X-T2? I definitely need one... :) (to be used on a MeFoto RoadTrip Travel Tripod) Cheers!!

In case you missed it, at around 12:00, you had what looks like a fairly nice pair of sundogs around the Sun, and you skipped working it into anything? OK, I know my biases, I'm more of a sky photographer myself. Sad to see them go unappreciated, though.
