Too many people have been traumatized by anchovies on pizza, I think, back when that was a thing. (Does anyone put anchovies on pizza anymore?) Those anchovies were always dry, overly salty things that *did* taste "fishy" in an unpleasant, strident way. But good anchovies, cooked properly, give an incredible depth of flavor to whatever they're in - beef stew in particular, is improved immeasurably by a few chopped-up anchovies cooked with the stew's base ingredients. You don't necessarily taste the anchovies, but you would note their absence. And one of Nigella's pasta sauce recipes is essentially anchovies and cream with garlic and some herbs, and it's divine.
@MsShellectable
@MsShellectable 4 жыл бұрын
You just completely repeated what Nigella said about how anchovies add depth to a dish. Excellent mansplaining! And yes, people still put anchovies on pizza. It's not a "thing."

Fully agree, fish smells bad and has a horrible texture. I mean Oysters are like eating snot, some other fish is like eating jelly. I've tried and I can't stand it. About the only "fish" I can stomach is tempura prawns, deepfried to get rid of the fishy taste so you just get a bunch of other flavours. And no, fish and chips isn't the same and no it doesn't hide the fishy flavour, again, I've tried. I gave it a fair try and it has disappointed me at every turn
