The people of Niger realized that they have been exploited long enough by colonialism and decided to stand up against it with so much bravery. I have to give them praise for their actions.

The problem in Africa is the same problem they have here in America; so called democratic process where money is the really determining factor creating leaders who are behold to their sponsors than to the people; the difference is that here in America we have this huge security apparatus that work in concert with an implacable information manipulation machine that politicians have errected to protect themselves, and harshly punish anyone who dare to protest like the poor jan 6 protesters. But there in Africa, the sponsors are western foreign powers who want control of the ressources, and they use their expeditionary forces as security apparatus but from time to time when the popular push back is determined, they fail like in Mali, and central Africa. Therfore, that democracy crap is just for the naives and gullibles.

@Brocambor "the poor jan 6 protesters" wanted to take away votes from people who stood in line in the rain from early morning. Trump lost the popular vote by more votes the second time than the first time, due to mishandling of pandemic, one month govt shutdown, spreading discord in tweets, and putting unsuitable people in important positions. The "poor jan 6 protesters" were willing to hang Mike Pence. The "poor jan 6 protesters" got people killed including a police officer. The "poor jan 6 protesters" smashed and destroyed government buildings. If the "poor jan 6 protesters" were black it would be a different story.

Former colonies of France complain about a poverty economy, and rightky so. We should not forget the CFA Infrastructure that has been in place for decades - together with Bretton-Woods - leading to perpetuated impoverishment. This may be even beyond ECOWAS and the AU.

In a strategic plan, timing is important or everything. In the philosophy of martial art, there is always a counter to your enemy’s move. Usually a result of understanding your enemy fully, it’s speed, power, patterns and you move faster and beat them before they complete their moves. If Russia pull this off it would be like a judo move where he sweep the legs away from his opponent as they are wrestling with their hands. As far as military running the country. Hopefully they will protect the people and promote growth. Lee Kuan Yew did a good job as a dictator.

It`s time West African nations keep the military away from protecting democratically elected governments, there is a need to create a special force that has no link to the military but is well trained and equipped to keep the access of military personnel to the president and protect the democratically elected government while the military concentrates on their traditional role of protecting the borders of the nation against external aggressors.

That is the best analyst ever listened to. The only way of preventing this in Africa is to ensure good governance but, with that useless DEMOCRACY leads by these corrupted leaders receiving western backing, we will never have good governance. So, let Africans wake-up and stand firmly against this new way of colonisation by the West named DEMOCRACY and find out a new way of good governance for ourselves to develop our Continent and our people. And for this to happen we must prepare and endure challenges from Africa developmental enemies. Because, I believed that, they will not allow Africa to develop, utilising our resources, that is why they assassinated Gaddafi and others and it's what some of our leaders fears. But, with the fearing and values western interests Africa never developed for ever. So we must find real partners for development, not those who comes to takes away our resources using so called politicians enriched themselves and leaves other masses in poverty and hunger.

Presidents should use leadership to serve the citizens, not visiting the west , parading themselves for photos in lush hotels , with heavy taxation and cannot look for ways for innovation and try to create jobs for their people, there is a lot of disillusionment African leaders must learn to respect those who elected them to office, but not to enrich themselves, that’s why military coups are prevalent in that region. and is bound to copied by others, ECOWAS must avoid confrontation and go to the negotiating table and find the root causes of this problem , otherwise they might course bloodshed and nobody wants that, , they need to make sure that Mr Bazoum is safe before anything.
