Mortality rate is higher in poor countries, hence more children is a way of ensuring that some make it alive into adulthood. On a more general note, why can't people be content with 2 or 3 children? Can't you at some point just say "Thank you Lord for what you have given me, it's enough, I am content"? Southern and northern Africans are having fewer kids. We're in a worse of position because we're more accessible than Europe and if we complain we will be called xenophobic. Birthrates in Namibia, South Africa and Botswana are around 2.2 - 2.4 while certain immigrant groups have sky-high birthrates. Whats scarier is the thought of civil war in overpopulated countries. What would happen if Nigeria ever has a civil war, with a population that big, the number of refugees would cripple many African countries.

I have read the projections for Nigeria - about 750,000,000 by 2100. I doubt that will ever happen. IMO, Nigeria will hit a resource ceiling, which will prevent that many people. Nigeria won't be rich enough to buy the food necessary. And it won't be able to feed itself. I remember in the 1970's, Iran was forecast to have huge population, well over 100M, but that is not happening. Iran became middle class, and now has a problem of future decline. I think this will happen to Nigeria. It can be a low cost manufacturer for companies leaving China. Being on the Atlantic, it has shorter routes to Europe, NA, and SA. I bet Nigeria never even reaches 400,000,000.

@@craigkdillon This was a govt policy just after the revolution. Iranian govt is not made of zealots as many think. They also tackled teenage pregnancy and used clerics to promote ideas of family planning.

India here, our latest report shows that India has reached TFR of 2.0 and of 28 Indian states only 2 have TFR slightly above 2.1 and only one has TFR=3. Rest of India has reached TFR of 1.5-1.7. In some urban areas like New Delhi TFR is 1.3. However because of the past momentum our population will still continue to grow (but very slowly) from current 1.25 Billion and peak at 1.5 Billion in 2060 but then start declining, by 2100 our population will drop back to 1.1 Billion and by some other estimates even lower! As an Indian I am very happy about this, because less population means better life, lesser pressure on Environment, better health and education. In general Quality and not Quantity!

This is the problem of over population. If a country can't provide the sufficient services and resources needed for their rapidly growing population, it's not just going to cause a strain on local resources such as food and water, infrastructures like housing, and proper services like health, education, and security, but also employment. Like what was mentioned in the video, if people can't find work and turn into desperation, they can be easy targets for recruitment by extremists can cause more internal problems, which can lead to external problems too, like regional disputes and wars, and mass migration to other countries. This then results to political instability and the draining of resources of those countries affected by the mass migration/immigration as well. It's just not a good outcome overall and their governments need to do something about this...but we all know change is probably going to be close to impossible, or will be slow like a glacial pace.

They need to stop having so many kids. They wont be able to take care of themselves eventually and it'll bring down neighbouring countries and then spreading to the next country using up the resources. That's too many starving kids for my heart to bear. They have to do something I say they, because its not our right to choose for them but I really hope they can come together as a people to find a solution

The increase in population isn't a problem. It's more like an opportunity for any nation to be a major power.

They'll keep spreading round the world as their population increases. That's what's gonna happen. They are travellers. They're not all gonna be residing in Nigeria. That's for sure.

Why are West so focused on Africa? Wow that is very intriguing! France president 10 conference talk 9 is on Africa. And that is all over western countries, it is very worring for any conscious African.

Its the poorest region in the world as far as poverty goes, why would the west NOT be actively talking about it. Bro did u watch this video at all??🤡

@@PlasmaGrounded I see another brainwashed dude response. I was waiting for this idiotic response. Africa has never been a poorest continent. This continent is bulled by your leaders to keep it in a poorest state, don't be silly bro. Every body knows it, except you. 3/4 world diamond coming from there, 75/ 100 percent world gold produced there. France and Russia are right now conflicting about the golf of Guinea, without even consulting the real owners. Are you coming to show up your lack of knowledge on the subject? Yes go do more research, without expressing any hate here.

@Rogier - did you smoke something which made you out your mind? This answer is just coming from brainwashed dude. Anybody knows that a good number is a soft power, why an other continent which always has participated in the down fall of this old peaceful continent will just have regain a good sentiment even empower people inner, they can foolish themselves, not the Africans, it is 21st century they see everything, and have learned from the bitter past of this continent.
