@fallenclara6 ай бұрын
They're not being attacked, no one's being attacked. Well except just a few communal clashes between herds and farmers every now and then right now it's somewhat stable (referring to South-East, South-West, North-Central & South-South, I know "South-South" isn't a geological point but it is in Nigeria, the Northern parts of Nigeria are still hampered with insecurity tho especially in places like Borno & Zamfara). The economy is currently in a major free fall tho according to some articles I read earlier and inflation has also been on the increase lately (18-22%) making life somewhat difficult for Nigerians and limiting the purchasing powers of the citizens to the very few. Footnote : In context to the video on whether Nigeria could become a superpower by let's say 2050, I honestly doubt it, a lot has to change for that to happen like the economy, security, and corruption. Also, the mass migration of the educated elites/people to other countries for a better working condition/ better wage is already hampering hard in Nigerian's educational/literacy rates with very few of the professionals actually staying. So regardless, whatever the population size is tomorrow. If those problems aren't solved sooner enough, then I seriously fear what would be of Nigeria in the next 26 years.

Nigeria as it stands is still a regional superpower that does not exercise its powers but if forced to would be more than happy. We have done it before. I do not support breaking up for the sole reason that it will not serve the direct interest of the masses but that of the anglozionist empire and its 5th and 6th columnists together with their 4th estate of the realm. it would be a vicious circle. Do you wonder why the empire started an active hybrid war in 2008 and has since lost both politically and militarily in 2015? It is not coincidental. Nigeria truly expired in 2014 and from their game plan, it is to break Nigeria into parts using their underdogs. This failed during the Biafran War. The plan then was to create smaller but more controllable regions and indebted them massively as you have in Qatar, UAE, and even Jordan. This plan failed and it would only serve the direct interest of the anglozoionist empire. This is the main reason their undergod Agui Ironsi stopped a regional government that was working in the interest of the people but not that of the puppet master. They have since failed. Nigeria honestly was never created for the people living within the borders of Nigeria. This is a fact. The reality is, the people in the boarders of Nigeria have been fighting to change the tide to favour them and you re absolutely right. Th purchasing power parity of the Naira is stronger than many European and American countries. That is a fact! Life expectancy, may be not so good but getting better than in the 80s. We will get there. I have said this about leadership: Nigeria is currently classified in my school of thought as a semi puppet state which is far better than a permanenet puppet state. What is missing is a Putin of Nigeria. We will get there eventually. It's a process and we are so close now than never ever!

All Nigeria needs is for those who don't want to be part of it, to physically leave Nigerian territory, before seceding. Notion that you can start making claim of other territories in the common wealth, and claiming you developed regions that predate the existence of the country, especially after attempts at hostile takeovers, is delusional. Nigeria is a voluntary union. To lose status of a voluntary status, you would have had to prove yourself a threat to the union. Continuing to threaten the union, does not only hinder the potential of the members of such a union, but the regional development of the country. It holds the nation hostage to old paranoias and is the main cause of economic, social, educational, resource and technological stagnation. Anybody who wants to leave, should leave, without taking from others, what they have not brought to the table.

To add insult to injury, the Nigeria general population has lost interest in the electoral process in Nigeria. So,Dummy, the election day turn out has nothing to do with the general population of Nigeria. Get that to your sick skull

Nigeria's population is very inflated for political reasons. Lagos is literally the only city with traffic. Most of Nigerian cities look empty in comparison

Nearly 100 million adults registered to vote and millions more never registered to vote. Nigeria's median age is 18.1 years which means there's nearly another 100 million people under 18 years.

As usual, your history did not include the Oyo empire. We have been celebrating the Kojoda calendar since 10,066, We yet celebrate it every year. Benin was founded by Oranmiyan, a prince in Ile Ife. So much info I do not agree with. But I love to see how outsiders see us.

Superpower? 63% of persons living within Nigeria (133 million people) are multidimensionally poor living on less than $6 a day. Persistent inflation is at a 17-year high of 25.8%. Access to education and health it's the 7th lowest human capital index in the world. All levels of government and business is still irredeemably corrupt. They have a very long way to go to yet.

This is the main reason, why french won't ever be in the top 5 most spoken languages. Nigeria will dominate it's neighbours, economically and culturally, while their neo colonial ties to france continue to erode. I wouldn't be surprised, if the english speaking part of cameroon, benin, togo and ghana, form a new country, with nigeria. That is an even larger, core of west africa.
@AYTM12007 ай бұрын
Nigeria is not going to dominate anyone in fact they're practically 3 countries in 1. The fundemental unity it takes to be a functioning nation yet alone a superpower is missing. Ghana as much as people don't want to admit itin the same way caused the rise of sovereign African states will spark the 2nd revolution for Africa. One of the few African countries to never have a terrorist attack. Despite having similar demographics to Nigeria with Christian south and a Muslim north has never had a civil war. In 2017 was the fastest growing economy. Although with some economic mismanagement with better leaderahip has potential. Despite having similar economic issues has minimal to no insecurity. 85% electrification and even supplying energy to other countries including Nigeria. Not to mention the first sub-saharan gain independence as a feat in of itself. Leaders in Ghana need to wake up and realise "the giant of Africa" is nothing but a slogan and if we don't take the drivers seat like Nkrumah did Africa will continue to remain in darkness.

Actually, French will be the most spoken european language in Africa in 2050 because despite its population, Nigeria is too corrupt, too diverse, unequal and unstable to become a superpower. The future of Africa is in smaller, but more stable countries, like Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana for example. People underestimate the importance of stability and no corruption to develop a strong state and enconomy.
@jeffreytube6 ай бұрын
@@Antarius1999 lol seems like you're not even an African cuz this take is the direct opposite of reality as we speak. The top 3 most influential countries in Africa is Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt. These countries you mentioned are struggling to be seen on the world map. Even with the curropt system in nigeria, they have managed to even get in more influential positions on the world stage. I suggest you do more research on this.
@Antarius19996 ай бұрын
@@jeffreytube The only topic where Nigeria is dominant is demographics, and demographics do not make a country powerful if you cannot create jobs to absorb it (it's the Indian situation), moreover, stability and institutions are too weak to create a prosperous economy, that's why the countries i've mentionned are small in land area and population, but they are more likely to became "developed" country with high standard of living (in scale of Africa).

Hi Geoff, Thank you for the video and thank you for the effort. I commend you. However, as a Nigerian living in Nigerian and well acquainted with our history and some of those of our neighbours, I think your facts are not too well grounded. Like other commentators have said, you forgot to mention the Old Oyo Empire, which had a significant impact in shaping the entire southwestern region of Nigeria from Benin Republic (Dahomey) to Edo (Bini Kingdom), you left out the important Kanem-Bornu empire, Ijaw-Urhobo kingdom among a vast host of others. Also, I would think that your points on why Nigeria has more population than others is not well grounded. Sorry that I criticised you.

It is too often filled with mistakes and sometimes outright falsehood that is then digested by other clueless people as fact/history. I mean, why even bother if you are not going to visit, live among, and talk to them before making a video about them. Stop using Wikipedia and the internet as a fact-fetching machine ffs!!
