The Nigerian Air Force's announcement of its intention to acquire 50 new aircraft represents a significant step towards enhancing its capabilities against armed groups and terrorists in northwest Nigeria. Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, outlined the planned acquisition during the inauguration of new military facilities in Katsina state. The new fleet will include 12 AH-1 attack helicopters, 24 M-346 combat planes, 12 AW109 multipurpose helicopters, and two Casa 295 transport aircraft. These aircraft will enhance the air force's operational range and effectiveness in various roles, from combat missions to transport and search and rescue operations.
