Thank you Boss. My full time job took a lot of time from me this year. And before I knew it I was promoted to become the general manager. So, I have less of the time I used to. Dividends are profits the business you invested in made. They share the profit with shareholders and if you own the stock you get part of the dividend (profit). There are different ways to look at it. You can say when a business consistently pays dividends (make profit) they are stable. Which means it might be a low-risk way of investing your money. Some shares don’t pay dividends because the business is unstable or their profit is not consistent. But there are other reasons some shares don’t pay dividends. They could be putting their profits back to work by using the profit to grow the business in other ways. Facebook, Google and PayPal are a few of the businesses that don’t pay dividends. But this is not because they don’t make enough profit. They are putting their profit back in the business to grow even larger. You can make money from a share from dividends obviously. But you can also make money from any share (including those that don’t pay a dividend) by selling it for a higher price than you bought the share.
